Cover bowl with plastic wrap, making sure plastic wrap is touching top of liquid so skin does not form, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. I always prefer to chill my ice cream overnight. This is usually because you have over whipped it. You can usually rescue it by adding a tablespoon of milk and whisking in on the slowest speed. I think the risk is minimal and I am happy to eat raw hens’ eggs with the British Lion Mark in accordance with the NHS guidelines. If you have any doubts, you might prefer my creme egg ice cream, which does not contain eggs. Hints, tips & variations Strain the egg/milk mixture into a separate large bowl- if you did have any clumps form from overheating, you pushing the mixture through a fine mesh sieve will help. Stir in vanilla. Step eight – Freeze overnight, then enjoy! Easy Creme Egg ice cream – hints, tips and troubleshooting

I have to confess that the first time I made this ice cream, I topped it with a homemade Peeps syrup. It was a cute idea, but I wanted to keep things simple here and opted out of it. But Easter? You've got all the good stuff. Cadbury Eggs (the regular sized ones AND the mini eggs) and Peeps. Easter candy is SO good, they've tried recreating Cadbury Eggs and Peeps for other holidays. But they'll only ever be Easter candy to me. Easter candy, you win. Love, me When you're ready to serve your Cadbury Creme Egg ice cream, you might want to chop up a couple more Cadbury Creme Eggs and top the ice cream with them. This recipe for Cadbury Creme Egg Ice Cream was originally published in March 2012, but was updated with new photos and content in 2020.) If you feel like it's necessary, you just need to heat several Peeps and about 1 Tbsp water in a saucepan and let it all melt away.

While Cadbury Creme Eggs aren't quite as controversial as Peeps, they definitely do have their dissenters. Like I mentioned above, please feel free to transform this Cadbury Creme Egg ice cream into absolutely any Easter ice cream of your dreams. Start by heating the cream, milk, sugar, and salt in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly, until the mixture just reaches the point of simmer. Then remove from heat.

If you've ever made a homemade custard-based ice cream before, this will be a breeze for you. And if you haven't, this is a great beginner recipe because the base is just a simple vanilla ice cream base. Store the ice cream in airtight containers and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight, until the ice cream hardens. Sugar – I use golden caster sugar for almost everything (aside from preserving), but white sugar is also fine. If you only have granulated sugar, pulse it in a blender or spice grinder for a few seconds, taking care not to turn it into icing sugar. This simple vanilla ice cream has chopped Cadbury Creme Eggs mixed in, making for the most delicious Easter ice cream treat! You have used evaporated rather than condensed milk. It’s easily done – I’ve bought the wrong can in the store too.Step seven – Transfer the cream mixture to a freezer-safe plastic tub. Cut the remaining 2 creme eggs into 8 and stir through, keeping a few segments to garnish the ice cream with. When whisking egg whites, make sure the bowl is scrupulously clean as any fat will stop them whisking. If you break the yolk when separating the egg, it is best to use that egg for something else (keep in a tub in the fridge and use within two days). Start again with a fresh egg. Step two –Chop two of the creme eggs, put into the pan with the condensed milk, and gently heat until the chocolate has melted. Cadbury Crunchie bars are another of my childhood favourites – sweet, crunchy hokey pokey honeycomb, covered in the nation’s favourite chocolate. Turning my favourite candy bars into ice cream has become something of a hobby for me, and this one is set to become a firm favourite. Now add 3-4tbsp of raspberry syrup on top. You don’t need to be neat with this just drizzle it over the top, then using a skewer swirl it through the ice cream. Add another ¼ of the mixture and repeat, until all the ice cream mixture is in your container with raspberry syrup rippled through.

Use a scrupulously clean bowl – I far prefer glass, metal or ceramic. It is almost impossible to get a plastic bowl grease-free unless you have a dishwasher. Whatever you may have been told, you don’t need special equipment to make ice cream. There’s no ice cream machine involved in this recipe – just an electric whisk or a strong wrist! No churn ice cream without condensed milk!

And now I think I might win by combining two of the best treats together, ice cream and Cadbury Creme Eggs. The only thing that could make this ice cream better would be jelly beans.

If you’re a true Cadbury Creme Egg fan, Iceland are selling a creme egg inspired cheesecake that tastes, and looks just like the real thing.

IMPORTANT – The condensed milk and creme egg mix MUST be cold before you add it to the cream. Otherwise the whipped cream will collapse and it will not whip up again. Don’t be tempted to save time here; you will have to throw everything away and start again.
