It’s hard to know what the trail will have in store for us on any given day, but it’s good to be prepared should accidents happen. If you develop a wound or skin irritation, Leukotape is a great bandage to last you until civilization, and will help prevent infection, too. Be sure to clean and dry the area before applying a strip of your new trail bff, Leukotape. Some leukotape brands contain natural rubber latex and may cause an allergic skin reaction if you have sensitive skin. Maintain the tape’s full adhesiveness, which is compromised when it is touched or when it is re-rolled into smaller rolls; and, I have been using Leukotape Classic for last 2 years, but when the roll was finished I decided to go with P, as it is stronger and more commonly ‘advised’ in the internet. If you discover a rip in your tent, a snag on your puffy coat, or the soles on your shoes suddenly separating, Luekotape is there to help. When using it to patch gear, cut it into a circular shape and clean your gear as best you can before applying the patch. Wax paper doesn’t work well as I discovered around 2011. I tried to use some from my kit and it wouldn’t peel off the wax paper. Leukotape K is similar to Kinesio Tape (or KT Tape) in that it stretches. It's great for athletes who need to maintain range of motion, but that stretch doesn't necessarily help prevent foot blisters. It's also .5 inches wider than Leukotape P, making it a little more difficult to place comfortably on your feet. The idea with Leukotape is that when you get a hot spot (a localized area of noticeable friction happening on your foot) you put some Leukotape on it before it has the chance to become a blister. The tape provides a barrier between your skin and whatever is causing the friction, stopping the blister from forming.
