About this deal

Fritz the Dog, an Easter egg that appears in all of Van Allsburg's books, appears as a puppet on Hero Boy's bed post in the first illustration. This appearance was carried over to the film adaptation. Based on a 2007 online poll, the National Education Association named the book one of its "Teacher's Top 100 Books for Children." It also appeared on School Library Journal''s "Top 100 Picture Books" of all time in a 2012 poll. THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride leaves Birmingham Moor Street station and takes place on board heritage carriages hauled on the return journey by a real steam engine. The performance offers the magic and charm of the 2004 motion picture. My sister and niece came to visit just before Thanksgiving, and we drove to a small town in Oklahoma, to the Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile, and what did I buy? Not pots and pans. A little wooden train whistle. And what did my sister bring me for Christmas? A wind chime that her son had made and had given to our mother. Many years ago when our mother died, my sister had taken it and since her son had made her one as well, she knew that I would love it. It sounds like church bells. Of course I love it. As always, the forms are sculptured, the perspectives as dazzling as they are audacious, the colors rich and elegant, the use of light and shadow masterly." -- Horn Book Guide

The Polar Express automatically gets 5 stars just for its simple cozy factor. I mean can it be any more winter vibe, let's get in the holiday mood, I can't wait to ride the train scenario? Although meant for children, my five year old autistic grandson really loved this book being read to him. A young boy is awakened from his Christmas Eve rest by a train that magically appears just outside his home. Ignoring the demands of stranger-danger, the boy climbs aboard. National Education Association (2007). "Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children". Archived from the original on July 30, 2013 . Retrieved August 22, 2012. Each train ride offers a unique experience, but they will follow a similar format. See below for each Polar Express location, but in general, the experience will closely follow the Polar Express story.I watched The Polar Express the movie as soon as it came out. And it became one of my favorite Christmas movies. And now I finally decided to read (well, listen actually) the book. And the book was just as magical as the movie (even though I do have to admit that I liked the movie a little bit more)

The companion to Jumanji—a tale of intergalactic adventure and sibling rivalry where a roll the dice transports two brothers to the mythical land of Zathura. The Artwork has been highly commended, and it is pleasing - but strangely muted. It appeals to adults, but to young children? There is a large element of nostalgia about the entire book. The pictures are not immediate in any sense. They are distance views, with even Santa's elves appearing as little smudges. There are two or three where the lighting is paramount, and it can be viewed as a theatrical set, with illuminated people, reindeer and buildings. These may well be more attractive to adults than to children. Yes, they glow. But does it feel magical? Read/audiobook this for the very first time the other day with my little niece and we both love it!!! The story was sweet and very enjoyable. The narrator is Liam Neeson!!!! Ohhh, I love love love his voice and let me tell you he did NOT disappoint whatsoever! This is definitely gonna be a Christmas favorite around here :) I absolutely love the illustrations too! I will recommend this book to everyone for sure :) THE POLAR EXPRESS™ theatrically re-created so that you and your guests can immerse yourselves in the sights, sounds and intrigue of this classic children’s tale. In this extraordinary, unusual, and unique picture book, Chris Van Allsburg explores both the real and surreal worlds with incredible deftness. Enjoy a 30 minute performance in a heated marquee before setting off on your 60 minute Polar Express train ride.
