The film has to juggle two distinct identities here. When it's Friday the 13th, it's great! I love seeing Vince Vaughn as this Jason Voorhes type killer of legend. The sequences are great, the kills are creative and bloody as hell, and as a general stance it's just nice seeing a good R-rated horror film. In some moments, these scenes are even better than the old school slashers they're clearly paying homage to. Then, when it's Freaky Friday, it's also great. Having this girl have to figure out the strange new body (every part of it!) and how to maneuver is very funny. And of course we get those body swap scenes where from a new perspective she comes to understand herself better, gain confidence in her own body, and see the perspectives of others in her life through fresh eyes. It's a trope, but it works. Completing all three challenges will get you a whopping 80,000 XP towards your Battle Pass, not to mention flying around in X-4 Stormwings are pretty rad. I have to say, I am loving this trend of high concept horror. From the people who brought you "Groundhog Day, but it's a slasher movie" comes "Freaky Friday meets Friday the 13th".
