About this deal

Thank you so much to Crown Publishing and Josie Silver for gifting us the Perfect Night In book club kit and sending out copies to some of The Traveling Sisters. It was an absolute pleasure reading this incredible book! We’ve come to tell you that we’re running away together. We’re lesbians,’ Sarah replied, deadpan, making Bernadette splutter. Stuart’s eyes widened so much she worried that he’d do himself a permanent injury. ‘I’m kidding! Although, she does have great legs,’ Sarah added, grinning. The humor was perfect for me. I loved the pace and I fully appreciated how it was messy, frustrating and never easy. So is life, am I right? Even if I wasn’t totally engaged by all the characters, I was completely gripped by the complex threads of the story and intrigued to see how the author was going to pull everything together. Safe to say, she succeeded brilliantly. I’ll also admit I shed tears at one point and I’m not usually a sentimental person. I can now see why Shari Low’s books are so popular. Great storylines, clever plotting and engaging characters make One Day in December a very satisfying read.

I loved this book so much more then I thought I would. It is now one of my favorite Christmas stories, if not even my favorite, and I would recommend it to everyone who believes (or want to believe) in love at first sight, likes to read about friendships and life twists and turns. I won’t dwell though, because Christmas should be a time of hope and love and, most appealing of all at this very moment, sleep.”Thank you so much to Emily from Goodreads, Crown Publishing and Josie Silver for gifting us the Perfect Night In book club kit. It was my absolute pleasure reading this incredible book! In January 2021, Shari Low celebrated 20 years as a best selling novelist. In that time and since, she has published over 30 books, including My One Month Marriage, One Day In Summer, One Summer Sunrise, The Story Of Our Secrets and her non-fiction collection of parenthood memories, Because Mummy Said So.

So, Do you believe in love at first sight or that we all have a soul mate? If you are on the fence and need a little push to help you fall, then read all of the books like One Day in December in the above list. Overall, as you can see from my rating, I loved the book. It is such a winter read, where you can take a blanket, a hot cup of tea or coffee and read the hell out of this book. What happens when see him? It’s love at first sight, and then your best friend meets him in person and she gets the guy? I needed something that would spread that magical christmas spirit. I will have to try something else tho. This proposal "Movie by Josie Silver’s “One Day in December”" was written and submitted by your fellow ONE DAY IN DECEMBER by Shari Low is an example of contemporary fiction at its finest. Engaging, addictive, and all-consuming, this story completely took over and I did not even notice the hours drift by as I was immersed in that all-important day in December when lives would change forever. If you get the chance to read “One Day in December” please take it! This heartwarming read will be on my best of list for 2018 and I sincerely hope it will be on yours too! One Day in December is also written in an interesting form, telling the story in short scenes that spread out over a period of ten years. Silver did a masterful job creating a unique form where such a long stretch of time is covered without leaving the reader feeling frustrated or confused. She has a scarred lip, a weak heart and a twisted foot; she has been teased her whole life and her family want to protect her.

basically this was a Meh read for me. it was very long, and very slow, and there was a lot of drama in a kind of suburban-gossip there's-nothing-else-to-talk-about way that did not at all translate to an interesting-book way.I swear there were so many moments my heart broke for those three and sometimes all I wanted to do was to rip the book in two. *lol* I was so emotionally invested in this that it felt like they were my friends and naturally I only wanted them to be happy! XD Sometimes they were and I was glad for those moments, but other times they were so unhappy that I felt myself hurting with them. >_< Shari's writing is always a pleasure to read as emotions are felt almost from the beginning. In this book too, there was an innocence in the way certain characters were depicted. I love to hate my characters too, I take almost a guilty pleasure in it. Lila evoked that in me almost from the get-go. The beginning took some time for me to connect to the characters, but I settled down once I got to know them. From now on, if anyone asks me if I've ever fallen in love at first sight, I shall say yes, for one glorious minute on 21 December 2008. Although… wouldn’t have minded that in my day. It would be good to have photographic evidence of how I looked before I went gray, developed wrinkles and my baps headed south.’ A woman at the next table froze, unsure if she really had just overheard that correctly. Couldn’t have. Not from that elderly lady. If anyone ever asks if I've ever fallen in love at first sight, I shall say yes. For one glorious moment on the 21st of December 2006.”
