Although some fluxes will work across the various ranges, we recommend you use fluxes from the same range of colours that you are working with. Teeth whitening pens work the same way as other whitening products, but they use a serum to apply whitening ingredients to your teeth. Most teeth whitening pens use a peroxide formulation—either hydrogen or carbamide—to break down stains. “Peroxide gels break down into water, oxygen, and reactive oxygen molecules,” explains Dr. Velayo. “These reactive oxygen molecules treat both the enamel and the dentin, oxidizing the bonds of discolored stain molecules. By changing the stained molecules, the tooth becomes lighter.”

This does mean that the properties of this range can vary from colour to colour. KALDEWEI’s enamel pen is ideal for repairing tiny areas of damage on enamel surfaces in bathrooms. Small scratches and chips are soon repaired. Available in: alpine white and alpine white matt. KALDEWEI’s enamel cleaning set cleans and cares for enamel surfaces, ceramics, chrome fittings and stainless steel sinks. It also removes stubborn deposits such as lime scale and cement. Any moisture needs to be dried off before firing, especially oil from a painting medium, as it will burn. You can do this by leaving wet pieces under a lamp or on a trivet above the kiln. We did experience a bit of a funny aftertaste in the few minutes following application, but this isn’t unusual for whitening products, and it went away shortly after. We also like that the pen features a brush-tip applicator, which helps to evenly distribute the serum and get into the crevices between the teeth. Plus, after using it as directed, there was still plenty of product left in the pen that could be used for touch-ups down the line.
