It’s so easy to use for cooking bacon that when I found myself doing some for a salad later in the week, I resolved to use the Innoteck and, simply put, it’s the best result, in the shortest time with the least mess to clean up. It doesn’t produce the crispiness of my top choice of air fryer, but it does cook very quickly and evenly – 20 minutes for chips or sweet potato fries and just six minutes for vegetables. There’s a good range of pre-set cooking modes for air frying, dehydrating, roasting, baking and grilling. I would not be reviewing this Gourmet oven if it had not been for the IMPECCIBLE response and service by Wayfair. It beats a regular oven for efficiency but it’s definitely not the most energy efficient model out there if you’re looking to save money.

The chips were tasty and not dried out; they were just softer than I would have liked, without that irresistible crispiness. This is because, although I like to think I am a great cook, I'm awful at navigating new gadgets and many things which are DIY or high tech in my home, I'm usually awful at setting up anything like this. The non-stick surfaces made this fairly straightforward but it was still time consuming to wipe everything down afterwards.

It’s stylish and modern looking with a touch screen interface and large, simple, one-button control at the top. There wasn’t any need to turn the bacon halfway through cooking – the rashers cooked evenly all the way through, with all the fat fully rendered – so I was pretty pleased with the results for this one.It is true that thermoplastic coatings can still release harmful compounds when heated to very high temperatures of 260C or above, but air fryers don’t reach temperatures that high. It's very spacious meaning it can take some time to warm up, and didn't fare excellently in our tests when it came to chips, unfortunately. What we wanted to know is whether they actually work – because, for every air-fryer super fan, there is a critic who says they cook unevenly, have a small capacity and produce dry, slightly rubbery results. That said, it’s much quieter during use – I measured noise levels in the low 60s dBA, which I'd happily work through. We usually microwave our veg for ease and speed when stuck for time, but it’s well worth putting them in the air fryer because the quality is so much better.
