And then French class. While I admit Hunky guy's little bit of dialogue in the classroom scene is charming.... why was she taking a French class? Did she always want to learn French? Was this just to leave the apartment? Did she just want to meet Hunky guy? From here on in, the character development gets downright weird. Her relationship with him seems to be based more on sitting and standing near each other in places than any commonalities or shared interests. The caller has been diverted from adding to the statement because the call handler swiftly moved to the next stage – booking the call. Of course, sometimes putting the caller on hold can’t be avoided, especially if they need to be forwarded to another team that are best equipped to handle their enquiry. However, you should do everything that you can to avoid putting the caller on hold – doing so could make their anger or frustrations worse. If you have to transfer them across to another team, try your best to do this whilst they are still on the line. If you do have to put them on hold as the last resort, then let them know and apologise for the inconvenience to try and keep them calm. This book is clearly the first in a duo or trio, and I didn't realize that when I started it. The story ended on a huge cliffhanger, and even though the book was published over a year ago, I don't see any mentions anywhere of if or when Book 2 is supposed to come out, so that's a bummer.

After the stereotypical start.....it was a dark and stormy night... etc etc, I was expecting to slate this film, but to my total surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed it. To Call, is to summon something, from nothing. Calling is a rare enough, coveted talent that many would want, but it is expected from the Octavius family. Every generation has produced the best, and strongest Callers. . . all except Quintess, who seems to not have this ability. While feeling the pressure from the Calling Exam that is coming up, his world starts slowly unravelling. Things start going missing, and he keeps having strange dreams. It all comes to head when he suddenly wakes up in an unfamiliar place.Mary, a young woman going through a divorce, moves into a new apartment and is on the road to piece together her new life of being single. One day, when a woman calls asking for someone named Bobby, Mary simply informs her that she has the wrong number, but as the number of calls begin to escalate, they evolve into something more sinister causing Mary to become fearful that someone may be stalking her. Determined to find out who the mysterious caller is, Mary starts to look into who the previous apartment's occupants were but nothing can prepare her for what is really happening and who the calls are coming from. Thank you to NetGalley, Chronicle Books, and Kiah Thomas for the eARC copy of this book! Disclaimer: The version I read was an uncorrected proof. The pun is military slang; [4] possibly a reference to Ned Kelly, from Ned Kelly's helmet, the eye slot resembling the number 1. Full of fantasy and intrigue, The Callers follows a unique, captivating storyline that will have you gripping the edge of your seat – I read it in one sitting! Told through a fascinating system of magic, there are important lessons about colonialism, the role of technology and eco-management woven throughout. I appreciated how clearly this message shines through – Thomas does a fantastic job speaking to middle-grade readers in an easy and digestible way.
