About this deal

Sati cannot marry anyone and Daksha is perfecly happy that Shiva is interested in his daughter because he is already a Neelkanth(somehow). I look forward to the next book and I am glad that an Indian author has emerged who has been able to bring Indian mythology into the word of YA literature. His Shiva Trilogy is the fastest-selling book series in Indian publishing history while his Ram Chandra Series is the second fastest-selling book series in Indian publishing history. The story is peopled by characters and places that many who are conversant with the traiditons of India will be well aware of. If u know the Hindu myths around Lord Shiva, and can imagine his visage in your mind, you will realize how well he explains everything, from the concepts of a serpent around the neck of Lord Shiva right down to the second name he bears very often “Neel Kanth”.

Lisa Mahapatra from The New Indian Express was impressed with the story and Tripathi's writing and praised "the interactions between Shiva and Sati, [which were] intriguing. a near perfect empire created many centuries earlier by Lord Ram, one of the greatest monarchs that ever lived. This once proud empire and its Suryavanshi rulers face severe perils as its primary river, the revered Saraswati, is slowly drying to extinction. The present Meluhan king, Daksha, sends his emissaries to Tibet, to invite the local tribes to Meluha. A near perfect empire created many centuries earlier by Lord Ram, one of the greatest monarchs that ever lived. It has taken me close to three months to finish this book, which speaks volumes about my perception of Tripathi’s work. Where scientific studies have proved a child’s mental health depends on how much he/she perceives to be loved by his/her parents, Tripathi has come forward to argue children can survive at first without parents.

Sunita Sudhir of Learn Religions also gave a glowing review stating that 'whether the book fires your imagination to dwell on the larger questions of life or not, it certainly is a populist page-turner. His inner struggle, turmoil, frustration and desperation to find the answer, the solution and the final realization.Mumbai-born Amish Tripathi gave up a highly successful career as a banker following the enormous success in India of his first book, The Immortals of Meluha, this was followed by The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras (jointly The Shiva Trilogy). I do not want to go lenient because I consider it my right as a reader to be honest and open about the books I read. I felt the author tried too hard to flower up the language by using big, ostentatious words repeatedly, and the effort showed. Though he does not believe the legend of the Neelkanth, he believes that Shiva is capable of taking Meluha to its new glory. Those wishing to raise children can choose so from a wide range of kids growing in a secluded area off the society.

The publishers should have mentioned that caveat with a disclaimer somewhere, else many readers might feel cheated, like me. However, if I were a parent, even a poor one, would I happily give up my child for this seeming ‘equality’?

A few parts here and there are predictable but the author has tried to effectively maintain the element of attention as he progresses through this wonderful piece of work.

Liked the detailed description of places and situations which helps the readers in understanding the story and moving along with it. Meluha is a near perfect empire, created many centuries earlier by Lord Ram, one of the greatest kings that ever lived. It included posting a live-action video on YouTube, and making the first chapter of the book available as a free digital download, to entice readers.I had already read the entire series twice before as I can never miss out on any book written by Amish, but just listening to these books the way Manish has narrated it, had a deeper impact - I felt each word getting etched in my heart as if I will now, never forget these words. The present Meluhan king, Daksha, sends his emissaries to North India in Tibet, to invite the local tribes to Meluha.
