About this deal

Fast continuous shooting, reliable autofocus and great battery life are just three of the most important factors. aperture of f/2 is certainly fast with respect to light gathering but don't expect wonders in terms of depth-of-field - in the MFT scope you are are effectively "loosing" about two f-stops so it "behaves" like a "24mm f/4" here. In other words: we tested this lens with a resolution of 14 megapixels (2:3 ratio) instead of 16 megapixels (4:3 ratio). Keep in mind that the worst of it can be removed in a post production software like Lightroom as long as you use the RAW files.

12mm F2.0 Interchangeable Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm F2.0

I love golden wheat fields and even though I knew they would be all blurred in this shot I did not care, the tractor drill gives this shot the perfect leading line to the lighthouse and the Milky Way.Flare resistance is very good, but you’ll come across some chromatic aberration in high contrast situations at the fastest apertures. Zuiko 12mm and Leica 12mm are very enjoyable lenses to use, I would personally recommend the Olympus lens for a number of reasons. The Lumix 14mm is the only lens on this list that gives you an equivalent field of view of 28mm, which is often a favourite amongst landscape, street or reportage photographers. Ethics statement: We were provided with a sample of the 12mm for a three-week loan period and used to own the lens back in 2013.

Pulling the focus ring back sends the lens to manual focus mode, irrespective of what focusing method you have set on the camera.

With the lens wide open, you can see some light fall-off in the corners (see the macro test shot below for an example). Finally, in this mode the focusing limits are presented as hard stops - when you hit infinity focus or close-focus, the focusing ring will stop. I don't know how married you are to exactly 12mm, but if there is any flexibility there, the 15mm f1. Zuiko 12mm f2 is a perfect fit for that body in terms of size and proportions (and styling as well, if you can get hold of an E-P3 with a silver finish).

In this position, the focus ring has no stops, hard or soft, at either end of the focus range – which is again typical of an MFT lens. Before specializing in camera reviews, he worked as an event photographer for the National Cinema Museum in Turin, and as a videomaker for renowned Italian agencies, which allowed him to collaborate with important names such as Fiat, Sky Italia, Maserati, and more. The images produced from these lenses are very compatible but there are a few slight difference between these lenses. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 is a high-grade, all-metal, fast wide-angle lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. Peak Design's newest Camera Cubes allow you to turn any pack or bag into a camera-carrying accessory. Check out our review of the E-P3 with the 12mm lens and make sure you check out the video of the focus speed, you will be amazed.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 Micro Four Thirds Lens

Because the 12mm is so small, it is a good fit for all Micro Four Thirds cameras regardless of their size. We’ve used both lenses on numerous Micro Four Thirds cameras and we’ve found their autofocus motors to be fast and virtually silent, particularly in S-AF mode. I almost didn’t include this lens on the list, but that would have been a bit unfair given the unique characteristics this Nokton has to offer. it delivers excellent results which means it becomes an interesting option for low light events, weddings and astro-photography. That's a bit disappointing for a premium fixed-focal lens, although as seen above the automatic correction works well.Zuiko Digital 12mm f/2 naturally features a metal bayonet mount that allows it to be mounted to any Micro Four Thirds camera (but no “regular” Four Thirds DSLR, of course).
