About this deal

Answer ID 34991: How to Enable Local Network Access to Data on My Cloud Home Using the Dashboard with Cloud Services Taking everything into account, we're impressed with what the WD My Cloud Home Duo has to offer: as long as you don't need advanced file sharing and networking options, or the fastest possible file transfer speeds, this is an external hard drive solution that's going to serve you well. It's compact, well designed, easy to use and quiet in operation, and gives you a whole load of storage space you can get at from anywhere. Answer ID 50524: How to Enable Local Network Access to Data on SanDisk ibi Using the Dashboard with Cloud Services If you need a simple network storage solution for the home, then this WD My Cloud Home Duo is definitely one of the best options out there. It's particularly suitable for people who are just getting started with networked storage, or who don't want to mess around with all the settings and options you get with a fully fledged NAS drive. It's really easy to set up, and you can be transferring files within minutes.

Everyone added to your device can set up their own private space that only they have access to. They have full control over how they manage, access and share their files. Answer ID 50629: My Cloud Home and ibi : Share Access Failure - Error Code: 0x80070035 Network Path Not Found on Windows Answer ID 14964: My Cloud & My Cloud Home Share Access Failure with Multiple Connections To a Server or Shared Resource Not Allowed Message Invite your family and friends to collaborate on folders and albums. Share photos, videos, documents and more. Perfect for vacations, work and school. These are the numbers from a completed test. Zero is not good. The WD My Cloud Home also took well more than an hour to write 20GB of files and folders. The norm is 4 to 5 minutes.Performance climbed at times to 35MBps, but overall it took a surreal 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete a 20GB file and folder transfer. That’s 4MBps. Not good. It was very slow deleting those files as well. Our guess is the files were being handled by the Discovery app, whose intermediary presence gummed up the works. IDG Local Network Access applies to network-mapped drives on a local network. Network-mapped drives will only provide data for the user account that has local access enabled. Up to 5 local users can access data at the same time. Connecting up external drives to the unit and managing the various settings on the WD My Cloud Home Duo are all equally straightforward, and we didn't come across any issues in terms of setup or operation. If you ever need to replace the drive(s) inside the unit, to upgrade the storage or to replace faulty disks that's not hard to do either: the top of the unit flips off and you can then pull out and slot in drives from the top. Most users won't need to go through this process though. The My Cloud Home Duo’s 45MBps read performance with a collection of small files, its 110MBps performance with a single large 20GB file, and its large file write performance of 44MBps aren’t the fastest we’ve seen by a long shot, but they’re acceptable. But what to say about the small file write performance of 70KBps to 150KBps? (Yes, that’s kilobytes per second) Abysmal? Pathetic? Transfer times to and from this drive are going to depend on your home network setup, and even how far away your computer is from the router, but we were shifting around 5GB files in a little under four minutes. It's not as fast as an external drive connected directly to your computer, which is no surprise, but you do get the added benefit of being able to get at your files from any device on your network.
