A. I fiddled around with the Axxess ASWC-1 until I realized that it was reading steering wheel control inputs, but the radio was either not getting the signal or not processing it properly. Per 100PercentJake’s recommendation I followed the instructions to manually set the radio type to #8.

I installed an ATOTO F7 XE (10 inch screen) in my 2001 325xi Touring with Axxess ASWC-1 for steering wheel controls. I used an Enfig kit to mount it and make it look descent. I also used the Dinavin console frame to relocate the HVAC controls. Finally I needed the Metra wiring harness adapter. Its features are good. It has ability to be hooked up to a rear camera and a subwoofer, which were the requirements for me. Finally, many people like having a lot of extra features on their head units such as Wireless CarPlay/Auto, GPS navigation, HD radio, and other bells and whistles. The 10.1-inch display with a 178° full-viewing angle and QLED technology offers exceptional clarity and brightness, making it easier to access apps and settings while on the road. I inadvertently dislodged the magnetic valve solenoid electrical connector. This had the rather unpleasant effect of putting the transmission into limp mode if you leave it in park or neutral with the engine running for too long. I love it when I install a new head unit and in the process break the transmission. The touch screen is also highly responsive, making it simple to navigate through menus and access various features. The user-friendly interface only adds to the ease of use, making the ATOTO A6 PF a pleasure to operate.

It has fast charging while using Android Auto. My phone has a very old battery which means I can finally keep it alive during long drives. With my old head unit, I always lost battery while driving. Currently I'm gaining about 1% every few minutes. The USB wire attached cannot be removed from the head unit. This will make the installation quite a pain in some cases. In my car I needed to take the whole front plate off and push the wires out. The main difference seems to be that the F7 units are designed for wireless AA/CP & thus run off linux whilst the A6 uses an android operating system.
