About this deal

Once you’ve got your keyboard ready to show off, you can save up to 3 customisations to your onboard memory and take your own personal light show and macro settings on the road. The only drawback is that the Freestyle tab doesn’t let you choose any of the preset animations like Corsair’s CUE does. By default you get the standard rainbow wave, and you can press Fn + F1 through F3 to check out two more included defaults: red with a breathing effect or all blue with WASD and 1234 in white. The award-winning HyperX brand has carved its name atop the leaderboard by consistently delivering products that deliver superior comfort, aesthetics, performance, and reliability.

If you're into RGB lighting and you're out to get a brand new gaming keyboard chances are you will have a really hard time choosing one out of the countless models currently available in the market. The layout is also completely standard, with ISO (UK, Europe) and ANSI (US, China) variants available. It's only available with linear Kailh Silver Speed switches, which have a very responsive feel that’s great for gaming.

Like most gaming keyboards, it’s matte-black, but what really sets it apart is the stunning combination of a steel frame and exposed LEDs. The per-key RGB lighting effects can be fully controlled with HyperX’s NGenuity software, and the 5-level adjustable lighting can get very bright, with a lot of diffuse lighting bouncing back against the metal top frame as well. The keyboard also comes with full RGB backlighting that’s easily customizable within the fantastic companion software.

Again, it takes very little effort to actuate a key, and If you are an accurate typist this could improve your speed. First of all, we can see the plastic lower half and the steel top plate which makes the frame-less enclosure. But when HyperX says you can feel the difference with these switches, they aren’t straining credibility. Powering the Alloy FPS RGB keyboard is an NXP LPC11U35F 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 USB microcontroller with up to 128 KB on-board flash memory, 12 KB SRAM, and 4 KB EEPROM. At the rear we see 4 product pictures used to showcase the main product features which are listed right beneath them in 9 languages. The names are at the left with the line "compact design with brilliant RGB effects" explain what this is all about. The Origins provides a better typing experience, thanks to its well-spaced and stable keys and proprietary linear HyperX Red switches that feel light and responsive.

Tl;dr – the keyboard is decent, stabilizers are bad and there are better alternatives for less, lots of opportunities missed. This can also be done in software, but when in the moment, a need may arise that you don't have the time to open the software. While also not directly related to my in-game experience, I can’t state enough how gorgeous the backlighting looks. The HyperX Alloy FPS RGB is a great-looking, high-performance keyboard designed to make sure that both your skills and style are on full display. The key switches are custom-designed to be a balance of responsiveness and accuracy, featuring a short travel time and low actuation force. The spacebar not only is poorly stabilized but also has some kind of issue with the left side of the keycap, which is able to get stuck.
