About this deal

As skateboarding has grown in popularity, it has remained deeply rooted in counterculture. Yes, it might have been added as an Olympic sport in 2020, but that didn’t deter the many who are drawn to the sport as an alternative to playing soccer or football in adolescence. This was one of the most frustrating things from the videos/guides I found. A lot of them mentioned sliding your pointer finger up toward the nose as if it was your front foot doing a real ollie, but this seemed almost impossible for me at first. My finger just didn't want to stretch that far or fast. Griptape comes in different colours, with different prints and graphics, brand logos, or even with small cut-outs. Another key consideration is the use of hierarchy. Headings should be structured in a way that reflects the importance of each section. Typically, this means using larger, more prominent headings for major sections and smaller headings for sub-sections. Another one of the more frustrating things when starting out is how often the board just wants to quadruple flip or 360 shovit every time you try an ollie. The first thing you should do to counteract this, of course, is to make sure your fingers are actually in the middle of the board and not too far toward the left or right edges.

I'm sure when I get better and spend more money on better boards the difference will be even more noticeable, but as someone who is only a week into this journey the difference seems somewhat minor. Option 1: Apply the new griptape directly on top of it. Option 2: Rub down the residue with nail polish remover and scrape it off carefully afterwards. Great for BeginnersStep-by-step instructions and foam grip tape make this a great starter fingerboard. I'm not sure how useful this is for getting your technique down, but I can't argue that it isn't at least psychologically helpful to see yourself successfully "ollying" and landing perfectly over and over. Avid skateboarders know the value of wheel bearings to give a board agility and maximize control. Fingerboards with bearings in the wheels can give you that same added control.Although fingerboards might seem like a toy, for skateboarders, it’s a serious tool. A good fingerboard has a design similar to a real skateboard, complete with contours and durable wheels. A plywood material will hold up over many uses, but some fingerboards incorporate plastic into the build. It may sound dumb, but this actually works insanely well: Give yourself something small to ollie over. I use a remote control and it worked great. It's actually kind of spooky how I'd start to clear the remote a few times, and then as soon as I'd take it away, I couldn't even get off the ground anymore. Furthermore, the ability to customize the grip tape with unique designs and colors adds a personal touch to the skateboard, making it stand out from the rest. The added style and individuality is a major selling point for those who take pride in their skateboarding gear. If you do end up having dust and dirt traces on your griptape, you can remove them with a griptape cleaner. A griptape cleaner removes dust and unwanted blemishes,

One thing I discovered through trial and error is to angle the board toward you slightly. Try this: Lay your hand flat in front of you and notice how your index finger is a bit shorter than your middle finger? The angle those two points make should be the angle of your board. Start far away and try to ollie toward your chest at this angle (but not too extreme of an angle!) and you may find your ollies being much straighter, cleaner, and less prone to 360 flips. I've read multiple accounts of people saying it took them months to get the ollie down, so don't sweat it if you aren't getting it right away. That amount of time could be discouraging, but I find it encouraging that I'm not alone. Grip tape is an important part of any fingerboard. You’ll need one that’s comfortable while also providing the friction you need to prevent your fingers from slipping around. Foam grip tape is especially useful for this. Some kits include this, but you can easily buy it separately if it isn’t included. Honestly, this is still kind of a problem area for me. Sometimes I'll land with two fingers, and other times I'll land with my whole hand slamming down on the board. I'm getting better, but it's still a struggle. I'll have to keep reviewing my form, which leads me to... There’s a reason skateboarding was a good fit for the Olympics. The sport is surprisingly complex. Yes, skateboarders make it look easy, but manipulating the board, whether over flat or hilly terrain, requires plenty of practice, along with some natural skill. One of the first things I noticed was that most people who git gud are using fingerboards from other companies, like the ones on the right here in this sub.
