About this deal

Jesus Calling, written by Sarah Young, has become an exceedingly popular book since its first release in 2004. Readers have been encouraged to live in God’s presence and listen for His voice. The devotionals are based on messages the author claims to have received from Jesus and are passed along to the reader as if God is talking. On June 27, 2017, Louisiana First Lady Donna Edwards delivered copies of Jesus Calling to women prisoners of the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women. [11] The books were donated by The Next Door, a non-profit organization that serves women in crisis and provides Jesus Calling devotionals free of charge to jails and prisons. [12] Young died on September 1, 2023, aged 77, following complications from Lyme disease. [8] Impact [ edit ] This quote, which I could not find in my copy, is cited by Edmond C. Gruss in his article “God Calling,” Christian Research Journal, at http://www.equip.org/articles/god-calling/

Letter to the Editor: Shared Concerns About Jesus Calling and A.D. Series With Pastor But to No AvailFor this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds…(Luke 12:22-24) Aware that she might be charged with equating these messages with the Bible, she notes, “I knew that these writings were not inspired as Scripture is.” [18]One is compelled to ask, why not? Are these words from Jesus or not? (Young uses the term “God” but the messages are made to sound like they are from Jesus). In her book, Dear Jesus, she claims she wrote

In addition I was excited to find the author has a kid's version of a devotional, a cd of songs to go along with this, a journal to side by side with this bible and some additional books that I look very forward to reading. The New York Times bestselling Christian daily devotional Jesus Calling by Sarah Young contains New Age buzzwords, extra-biblical names, pagan concepts, false teachings, and clairaudient (channeling/“clear hearing”) messages from a false Christ (spirit guide). When examining the entire multi-devotional Jesus Calling series as a whole, an elaborate integrated message system containing hidden (occult) teachings is exposed. Sarah Young

Sarah Young has included Scripture references after each daily reading and wove them into the devotions. Words from the Scriptures are indicated in italics. Themes of thankfulness, prayer, and trust recur often in the daily devotions as they are essential for a close relationship with the Lord. Try to imagine what I gave up when I came into your world as a baby.[….]…I accepted the limitations of infancy under the most appalling conditions — a filthy stable. That was a dark night for Me. [27] There are three major issues that should be examined: The claim that Young received the words directly from Jesus; Young’s admission that a primary influence on her was the book, God Calling, by “Two Listeners;” and, finally, examining some of the messages in the book allegedly from Jesus.
