About this deal

Housed in the iconic Boss enclosure and manufactured in Japan by Boss (but also stamped with the JHS Pedals logo), the JB-2 contains circuitry that enables independent or combined renditions of the two effects. Dual-concentric potentiometers control drive, tone, and level for each effect, while a 6-position mode switch activates the JHS Angry Charlie, the Boss Blues Driver, a mode in which you can toggle between the two, two series modes in which you can run JHS into Boss or Boss into JHS, and, lastly, a mode for running the two circuits in parallel. For several years, we have been continuing to take on new challenges with the keyword “Breakthrough,” Yoshi said. “I think it's very refreshing and thought-provoking for our engineers to work with such an up-and-coming company and get inspired.”

Thanks to the circuitry inherited from the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, the JB-2 Angry Driver gives you a really nice bluesy overdrive that’s great for pushing valve amps, while the JHS Angry Charlie side of the family gives it some extremely high gain tones. When this plan came up, we used the ES-8 Effects switching system to try numerous combinations of our pedals with the JHS Angry Charlie,” Yoshi relates. “I thought a combination allowing each pedal to complement the other would be interesting to try. The sound of the Angry Charlie is exactly what BOSS didn't have.” With humble beginnings, JHS started out as a mod shop, taking existing stompboxes and replacing their components to improve their sound. It was in 2007 that founder Josh Scott started selling modified Boss BD-2s, inspired by the instance that his very own unit broke and he managed to repair it.USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year. Open chords feel lost and disenchanted. Power chords on driven settings sound hungover. As if they are all ashamed of the pedal they are working for and are merely trying to get through the shift. Just like your audience will be if you dare put this on your rig. Gaining notoriety on the popular YouTube channel ‘That Pedal Show’, the potent sound of the Angry Charlie caught the attention of even the biggest names in the business. JHS/BOSS Angry Driver

I have already set my sights on acquiring a Mega Distortion, Metal Core and Waza Craft Metal Zone, and would also quite like to snap up a Digital Metalizer and Xtortion at some stage if I ever find suitable candidates. Indeed, I’ve always found that Boss injects a sonic signature for their gain pedals that falls somewhere between analog and digital but with all the desired harmonic overtones that make them sound inherently unique. Considering there are hundreds of boutique pedal companies that build Tube Screamer replicas and Klon clones, very few have ever emulated a Boss overdrive or distortion pedal. Not to say this is a good or bad thing, but Boss has always been fi ne in their “gainful” space.

So that’s all well and good, what about the sounds? So, the Blues Drive mode is of course modelled exactly on the classic BOSS Blues Drive. It’s a nice crunchy drive with a lot of upper mid range bite, traditionally it wasn’t very gainy, however over the years players have modified them for more gain. The Angry Driver version of the Blues drive is a little bit more like the tweaked version, leaving us with lots of room to play around. Andy Timmons has been said to use the Blues Driver for a broken up clean sound, which it does fantastically of course, he can also use it to push other pedals like a Tubescreamer would be used.

Today, the company employs a team of 20-25 people at their Kansas facility, skillfully constructing their circuits by hand to maintain an excellent level of quality. The JHS Pedals Range Arguably, JHS’ most renowned pedal is the Angry Charlie. Now in its 3rd version, this high-gain distortion pedal is adored for its genuine amp-like sound and feel, essentially giving you a modded Marshall JCM800 in a compact stompbox. Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered. You can use either of the circuits independently or combine the two, with the JB-2 cable of giving you a bit of boost to some full on, all out distortion. Comprehensive Controls and Huge Tonal Potential If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
