About this deal

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. As double-digit age statements on everyday-available brands seemed to fade away in recent years, Russell’s Reserve 10 Year now stands among only a few that proudly fit this bill. While it might not be considered readily-available in all parts of the country, Eagle Rare 10 Year is probably the best direct comparison offered by another distillery. It comes in at the same age, proof, and approximately the same MSRP. By comparison, Russell’s Reserve 10 Year offers the more quintessential flavor profile, resting on caramel, vanilla, and aged oak notes as opposed to the more fruit-forward flavor profile found in Eagle Rare. Eagle Rare 10 Year is also offered as a single barrel via store selections, and while the standard release isn't labelled as a single barrel it's effectively bottled that way using a continuous barrel-by-barrel bottling line, so sometimes you'll find gems and other times duds. I’ll close with a question that, without fail, comes up each time I review Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Rye – When will Wild Turkey allow for rye private selections again? The short answer is, I honestly don’t know. The more optimistic answer – at least, my own optimistic answer – probably isn’t what you’d expect.

It is more honorable to be raised to a throne than to be born to one. Fortune bestows the one, merit obtains the other.” – Francesco Petrarch Since launching its flagship Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon in the early aughts, the brand has gone on to produce a number of other notable bourbons and rye whiskeys. Now that you know the basics, here are eight more things you should know about Russell’s Reserve Russell’s Reserve is part of a lineup of whiskeys produced by Wild Turkey… Taste: confectioners sugar, Bit-O-Honey candy, lemon pepper, sassafras, brown sugar glaze, sweet herbal teaWhiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). Nose: toasted vanilla, apple pie, sweet clove, ginger snaps, herbal & floral spice, singed lemon peel, honey Finish: medium-long finish w/ caramel drizzle, charred oak, tangerine zest, lemon-licorice lozenge, applewood, mint In 1998, the first batch of Russell’s Reserve was dreamed up by Eddie Russell to celebrate his father’s 45th year serving Wild Turkey. Intended to celebrate his achievements and then-approaching retirement, the batch was distilled that same year. But rather than releasing the whiskey when Jimmy retired — which he obviously has yet to do — the 23 barrels of whiskey were allowed to rest for 15 years before Russell’s Reserve 1998 hit shelves in 2014. The release marked the most limited run of whiskeys ever produced by the brand with just 2,070 bottles entered into circulation. Rather than releasing Russell’s Reserve 1998 as the flagship bourbon under the label, Jimmy and Eddie chose to produce Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon as the first release to markets. The original bottlings of Russell’s Reserve were higher proof than they are today.

I’ve covered K&L single barrels of Russell’s Reserve Bourbon rather extensively on TWJ. It’s a whiskey I love from a store I adore and it’s something I drink often when I want a heafty bourbon I can rely on. Is it perfect? No, nothing is, but on the whole I find I have more good-great single barrel experiences with Wild Turkey than I do with other bourbon producers… though that could be my Wild Turkey love talking. Brought to market in 2001, Russell’s Reserve was created in 1998 by father-son duo and whiskey powerhouses Jimmy and Eddie Russell. With over a century of combined experience in the whiskey industry, the two men have created dozens of recognizable and beloved whiskeys in their careers, a number of which have fallen under the Russell’s Reserve umbrella. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.

Perhaps it’s the tier they’re on with Eddie insisting his favorites are stored no lower than the third floor and typically no higher than the fifth.
