The Hot Wheels toy series was launched in 1968, and the very first car in the series was the dark blue Custom Camaro. Color Reveal is a sub-series of the Color Shifters series. The castings in this series are essentially Alternative versions of regular Color Shifters castings but are coated in a coat of water-soluble paint. When initially dipped in water and swirled around, the water-soluble paint coat of the casting dissolves; after the paint coat dissolves the casting acts like any regular Color Shifters casting. The paint coat application is often noted to be poorly done. All castings feature the SKU of GYP13 and are made in Thailand. The Mattel company (manufacturer of Hot Wheels) decided to produce some of its models as real-size cars. The first was the Twin-Mill, and there are now over 20 real-size Hot Wheels cars.
