The Kenwood TK-3501 is a license-free, analogue PMR446 radio with 16 pre-programmed channels with the 8 PMR556 frequencies. The TK-3501 features TQ/DQT signalling formats, “industrial strength” construction (US MIL-STD specification and IP54 rating) and built-in VOX.

In the heart of Glasgow city centre, where there are a lot of tall buildings to get in the way of the signal, we managed to achieve range of about one kilometre. As we moved further out, where the buildings are less dense, that extended to just over two kilometres- a respectable performance that will likely be more than enough for most users in urban areas.This radio is built to IPX4 protection rating meaning that it is weather proof, the 4 rating means that it is protected against water splashes from all angles, this allowing for it to be used when raining or snowing. Should lighting conditions be poor in the environment you are in then the T82 has a built in LED torch, this activated by the press of a button allows for the user to see where they are whilst completing an activity.
