About this deal

BBC Teach offers a short film about the Valley of the Kings for KS2, presented by Dr Joann Fletcher. Yes. This is, to my mind, one of the most original pieces of scholarship on Ancient Egypt published in the last 50 years – and there is a particular connection to me, because the author, Barry Kemp, was my lecturer at university. He also supervised my doctoral thesis, so I know him very well. But that is not the reason I chose the book! A number of eresources, including ebook collections, are freely available online. Some of these are indexed in Databases A-Z and can be identified by the following icon:

This book recreates a fascinating culture full of amazing historical facts, beginning with the Egyptians’ prehistoric roots and ending with their conquest by the Persians, Greeks, and Romans. As opposed to your next book, Ancient Egypt: Anatomy of a Civilisation, which is slightly more complicated, because it represents a reassessment of Ancient Egypt – right? Ancient Egypt comes to life in this book as never before. This compilationof freely available online resources for Ancient Egyptian texts has beenpublished bythe Egyptologists' Electronic Forum (EEF).for breadth and detail of coverage, this sizeable volume is difficult to rival … [it] marks something of a landmark to marshal this material into one relatively easy-to-use source. An extensive bibliography and index are genuinely helpful.’
