About this deal

Swaddling issimply wrapping up your babygently, so theycan’tmove their arms. To your baby being swaddled can replicate the feeling they had of being in the womb. I just really wanted to use the sleepyhead over night if needs be in his crib! That could only be used with a swaddle right? My baby is due in November so I'm a bit worried about colder weather - they seem to come in one tog now and you adjust the clothing underneath. Will that work for a winter baby? Below is a helpful list of the safety advice from our experts; sleep consultant Maria Murphy and Kate Holmes, Head of Support and Infomation at Lullaby Trust.

The Miracle blanket comes highly recommended by parents who’ve tried other swaddles and come to their wit’s end. So if your baby has a strong startle reflex, colic or finds it hard to settle, it’s definitely worth giving the Miracle Blanket a whirl. try to cool it down, and if this isn’t possible then it may be better to leave baby out of the swaddle until it is cooler.A big thumbs up from us, and I would definitely add it to the list of ‘essential’ baby items to get before your little one arrives!

Our newborn baby swaddles help your little one to sleep soundly. They're made from super soft fabric and decorated with patterns that are designed in-house at Tommee Tippee. We tried so many different swaddles and my DD seemed to hate them all - she would just fight against it and get so frustrated and angry. I'd just about given up on swaddling, and the idea of her sleeping anywhere other than me, then tried one last type called the Miracle Blanket. It comes with a 100% guarantee that it will help your baby get to sleep and stay asleep longer and it honestly works! It's saved my sleep.” (Recommended by Mumsnetter MissHoney85) Yes I think I'm too scared to swaddle as I do feel personally that I just wouldn't trust myself to do it right and would be frightened of him getting too hot. Swaddling is proven to improve quality young babies’ sleep. Young babies love to feel all snug and secure, just like when they were in mummy’s tummy; the wrapped fabric mimics the closeness of the womb and suppresses the startle reflex meaning baby (and mum and dad) will get more sleep.

This zippered swaddle from Love to Dream is incredibly easy to use. With a two-way zipper that’s ideal for diaper changes, you just zip baby inside, and they’re good to go. Every baby is different and there is no set time when you should stop swaddling. Many babies enjoy being swaddled for several months whilst others will become frustrated by their restricted movement from as early as two to three months. I found them much softer and much bigger than most other muslins. I also got them from TK Maxx, they had another brand called I think baby style which were similar. I had loads of others from the high street but these two brands were much nicer. DC4 now 7 used two particular A+A ones as comforters, they've almost disintegrated now but the pieces that are left are soft as silk.” (Loved by Mumsnetter Notso) Our verdict With no complex folding techniques needed, these swaddles are a doddle to use, thanks to the intuitive velcro fastenings. However, some reviewers say that while the fastenings work great for a newborn, older babies will undo them with vigorous wriggling.

The main key to helping your baby sleep without a swaddle is not to allow swaddling to become your baby’s only sleep trigger. From an early age, you should introduce some other sleep signifiers atbed timewhich will still let them know that sleepy time is coming and will help them to settle even though the swaddle has gone. These sleep triggers should include: Fluctuations in room temperature often require parents to adjust baby’s warmth levels during the night. However, changing baby’s wearing layers whilst they are sleeping can be disruptive and safer sleep guidelines warn against adding loose blankets on top of a baby sleeping bag as it introduces avoidable risks. No. Your Groswaddle is designed to be used instead of blankets and sheets. The only other bedding you need for your baby is a bottom sheet. Never use a Groswaddle with a quilt, comforter or blankets. My DS was the same, we ended up using a woombie (the mega size) until he was 9 months old. He then transitioned easily to a sleeping bag.” (Recommended by Mumsnetter Captainj1) Our verdict

Love2dream suits. I buy them as presents for any friend with a new baby, they are amazing…” (Recommended by Mumsnetter SW1amp) My baby was estimated at 7lb 11oz at 35 weeks and due to his size I am being induced at 38 weeks which they estimate he will be around 8lb 8oz. So I think a gro bag from the get go may be for me however I may have a look at these gro snugs out of curiosity. Made from soft 100% cotton-rich, fluorescent-free fabric, our Swaddlebags are snuggly and kind on baby’s skin – perfect for a comfortable night’s sleep.

Ever since our first two children were young babies, we have used ‘Gro’ products, most notably the Grobags for sleeping and napping in from about 8 weeks. We have just started using a Grobag at night for Arlo, but have also had the opportunity this time around to test out a ‘ Groswaddle‘, an easy way (and safe) way to swaddle your young baby. After reading more about the ‘4th trimester’ this time around, it made sense that babies under 3 months want to feel as safe and secure as possible, so the Groswaddle sounded like an excellent idea!Keeping a baby wrapped in a swaddle helps reduce the startle reflex, aka the Moro reflex. This is an involuntary response to being startled by anything from a sudden sound to no reason at all. It disappears by 3 to 6 months old, but it can really prevent sleep during those first few weeks and months at home. The Grosnug combines an easy swaddle with a newborn Grobag. . You don’t need to know how to swaddle your baby, just place them inside and zip them in. It has poppers which allow you to swaddle your baby arms in or arms out – whichever they prefer, allowing them to move onto a Grobag Baby Sleep Bag when they’re ready. A traditional swaddle, a cot blanket and a cot cover rolled into one? The Aden + Anais Classic Swaddle is a winner in our book.
