When we are listless in our work. When we are beaten down and uninspired. When we are tempted to give up. When we are tempted to reward the abrasiveness of our boss with subpar work, this is when we remember, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23). Our work is not ultimately done for the people around us, but for the glory of our heavenly Father. If you’re uninspired because of hardship, consider him “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2). 3. God is using your workplace to focus your hands. Then his return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and there he judged Israel; and he built there an altar to the LORD. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places... (Ephesians 1:3-4 RSV) Saul replied, ``Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me in this way?"

But David is a murderer and an adulterer, to name only some of his sins. How can he claim to be blameless? Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have the hope; This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.His sons, however, did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after dishonest gain and took bribes and perverted justice.

Some societies use Oxford Academic personal accounts to provide access to their members. See below. We need to recognize that David was a devoted and persevering follower of the Lord even though he did fall into very serious sin. When Nathan confronted him with his sins, he repented and grieved deeply for them. He expressed his repentance in beautiful psalms of penitence such as Psalms 32 and 51. His life as a whole was characterized by his faithful keeping of God’s covenant in obedience and repentance.

Now, don't read these first three chapters of this letter as though they were mere theological gas. They are not! They are facts! They are what God says is real. They are what is actually happening in the world, and what is available to you. And if you once read them that way you won't treat them as merely academic. You'll begin to found your life upon these facts and act upon them. That is why Paul always begins his letters by setting forth the radical facts of life as God teaches them. Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men (Proverbs 22:29). There’s only one person who sustains all things, and his name is Jesus. The rest of us can rest, because of the work he has already finished. This is the fundamental principle of our salvation: we are saved not because of what we do, but because of what Jesus has done for us. The work of his death and resurrection means we can rest in what he’s accomplished in our place. Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul's father, were lost. So Kish said to his son Saul, ``Take now with you one of the servants, and arise, go search for the donkeys."

He will also take your male servants and your female servants and your best young men and your donkeys and use them for his work. Communication. Work places are webs of relationships. Relationships are possible through communication. Weave your Christian worldview into the normal communications of life. Don’t hide your light under a basket. Put it on the stand. Winsomely. Naturally. Joyfully. Let those who love their salvation say continually, Great is the Lord! (see Psalm 40:16). You have a great message to share with other people, and it might stir them to make the most of work and life. If you need help seeing more of what God has called you to on the job, then share that with your coworkers — tell them what you read in the Bible and how you need help with it. Ask others for help and invite them into your journey to be a better worker and teammate. They might say no, but they might appreciate your noble desire to make yourself and the workplace better. And it just might be a profound way you see God work. It was from this book that I learned how the body of Christ functions. The truth of the fourth chapter was strongly in my heart when I came to Palo Alto, as a young man fresh from seminary, and began to pastor a small group of people meeting here. It was the conviction that the ministry belongs to the saints, and that the business of a pastor is to help the people find their ministries and to prepare them to function in them, and to discover the excitement of living as Christians where they are, which was formative in the early years of Peninsula Bible Church and is still so strongly emphasized here. It was from this letter that I learned, as a young man, how to handle the sex drive which God had given me, as he has given it to all of us, and how to live properly in a sex-saturated society. This letter is most practical in that way. It teaches us how to come to grips with life as it is.

Take silver and gold, make an ornate crown and set it on the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. For Tyre built herself a fortress And piled up silver like dust, And gold like the mire of the streets. The next day, we had visits from twelve dogs and a child in a crocodile costume. Insignificant to others, but it showed us that God is interested in the little things and he is at work. And they arose early; and at daybreak Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, ``Get up, that I may send you away." So Saul arose, and both he and Samuel went out into the street.
