About this deal

It only requires one mixing bowl and a square cake pan to make this Easy Chocolate Cake! It’s moist, rich, and topped with a silky smooth cocoa frosting. For squares and rectangles: The area of a square or rectangular pan is calculated by multiplying one side times the other side. The area of an 8-inch square is 64 square inches because 8 x 8 = 64; the area of a 9 x 13-inch pan is 117 square inches because 9 x 13 = 117. Easy.

One top tip is if they've been in for the 25-30 minutes, and you're still not sure, let them cool outside of the oven fully and then put them in the fridge for at least an hour to 'set'. It can firm them right up! Over night in the fridge is best. Whatever cake recipes are in your repertoire, or whatever cakes you’re thinking about making as you start to get into the art of baking, surely chocolate brownies are counted among them. A natural favourite for kids and adults alike, they’re easier to make and even easier to portion out. With a Lakeland brownie traybake tin, you’ve got the perfect purpose designed tin to turn that chocolatey goodness into chocolatey greatness. There’s no question about it, baking is undeniably good fun. But the clean up mission afterwards isn’t. In fact, it’s been known to put off even the most dedicated home bakers in the past. Why not cut the least fun stage of the baking process entirely with foil trays instead? The best place you can start is to use an oven thermometer to make sure your oven is actually baking at the correct temp. Some bakes you can get away with it being out, but for the best traybakes you really need it to be bang on!

Serving & Storing

Add the Rice Krispies (or whatever alternative you want to try such as cocoa pops!) to the mixture and mix. There is 100% enough marshmallow mixture in this recipe as I have made it plenty of times, you just need a little arm power! I tend to find its best to pre-weigh the Rice Krispies so that there is no waiting around and the mixing is then easier.

It’s nice if you can increase recipes so that you don’t have to deal with fractions of eggs—by increasing a 2-egg batter by 1 1/2 or a 3-egg batter by 1/3 or 2/3, for example—but it is not essential. I know one of the scariest things about baking some traybakes is that ‘they never bake right’… when it’s actually much easier than you think. There are a few tips that really save me every time! Like always, my bakes are customisable and delicious – you can use any other biscuit you fancy! I have a recipe for Jammie Dodger blondies on my blog and they are just heavenly! Cool the blondies completely in their tin, and then put them in the fridge overnight. This is BY FAR the best way to get a fudgey blondie delicious texture of heaven.Let’s be honest, making cakes is an art form, and unless you’re a natural baker, it takes a few goes to nail that recipe exactly the way the photo in the cookbook shows. That’s why, no matter whether you’re just getting into baking or you’re a seasoned pastry chef moving onto more complex bakes, you want bakeware that’s on your side. Foil baking trays are great for big batch baking without the big batch washing up after. Plus, once you’re done baking that light, fluffy masterpiece, you can take the tray to that party, picnic or coffee morning without having to move it into another tin or food container. And when every last crumb is finished, it doesn’t have to go in the bin either. They’re reusable and fully recyclable. Just remember to give it a rinse and a wipe before adding it to your recycling bin. Easy. Baking tins in all shapes and sizes

Keep the cake STORED either in the fridge or on the counter! Once the cake is frosted it is protected from drying out. Shiny metal pans and dark metal pans cook differently. Dark pans cook the outsides of the cake faster than the shiny ones do. Know your pans and adjust accordingly: turn the oven down 25 F when using a dark metal pan. You could use water icing (icing sugar mixed with water for a drizzle), and then maybe even some glacé cherries?! Honestly.. the possibilities are endless with these beautiful blondies. If you can't find cornflour, you can use an extra 25g of flour, but I still recommend cornflour over this. Don’t forget, brownies aren’t the only square-shaped cake out there. Whether you’re making a fruit cake or a wedding cake, you’ll find a wide selection of sandwich tins and rectangular baking tins right here. Baking without the scrubbing

I always use a 9×9″ square tin when making these and other traybake as it creates the perfect depth of bake. Cakes will last for around a month in the FREEZER if you wrap them in plastic wrap and then place them in freezer safe bags. To eat the cake, let it thaw in the fridge overnight and then unwrap and frost the layers Almond and jam… a delicious combination. Usually there is a pastry base, a jam layer, and almond filling, and decoration on top. These blondies are basically the same, just without the pastry!

Cake layers freeze beautifully. Wrap each layer in plastic wrap. Next, place the cake layer or layers in resealable freezer bags. The un-frosted layers will maintain their flavor for at least 3 months. I use regular M&Ms, but you can use any. If you use filled ones, you may want to substitute 100g of the M&Ms for chocolate chips so there is enough gooeyness For this recipe I used a 9″ square tin (23cmx23cm), and lined it with parchment paper. You can easily use a ‘brownie’ tin that is 7×11″ as this will take the same time, and have the same results.

What happens to classic banana bread when you swap in sweet rice flour?" asks recipe developer Joy Cho. "The result is neither wholly mochi nor traditional banana bread—it’s a lovely in-between, decidedly familiar with a fun textural twist." Glutinous rice flour brings mochi’s signature chewy texture to the world of banana bread. Even better: it requires only about half the time in the oven as a typical banana bread would. Deciding what shape your cake is going to be is one thing, but how big are you planning to make it? If you use a cake tin that’s too small, all that lovely cake batter will rise over the sides of the tin. Too big, and the sides shield the cake mix from the oven and slow the baking time right down. That’s why, at Lakeland, our range of cake tins feature all shapes and sizes, from 6 inch cake tins for personal puds, 8 inch cake tins for cakes big enough for two, all the way up to 25cm cake tins that are ideal for making tiered wedding cakes.
