About this deal

Overall, the Panasonic Lumix ZS80 / TZ95 is a fine camera, but not really any significant step up from the ZS70 / TZ90. If you absolutely need this kind of zoom range then it's a perfectly decent choice, but if image quality is more of a concern and you don't mind sacrificing a bit of reach, the similarly priced Panasonic ZS100 / TZ100 is a far better choice, while if you can stretch to the Panasonic Z S200 / TZ200, even better. Not convinced? Try these... Looking to upgrade your equipment? Get competitive prices on major brands with our part-exchange service. LVF (Live View Finder) (2,330k dots equiv.), Field of View: Approx. 100%/Magnification: Approx.0.53x (35 mm camera equivalent) While its size may suggest a simple snapshot camera, the TZ95 offers photo enthusiasts unadulterated Raw files as well as JPEG capture, plus the ability to shoot up to 4K-resolution video. Aiding ease of use, a familiar red record button on the top plate allows video recording to immediately commerce, whichever alternative mode has been selected on its top plate shooting mode dial. More easily overlooked is a lens control ring. This encircles the retracting zoom lens at the front, with said ring again enabling access to certain pre-assigned settings on the fly. Alternatively, when in ‘iA’ (intelligent Auto) setting, the same lens ring provides an alternative means of zoom adjustment, other than nudging the lever encircling the camera’s shutter release button. This phone has a huge battery, so big I don't power it on a full days of navigation but I do have some compatibility issues between the phone and the app which I am yet to feel confident have been solved. I find it interesting that the Panasonic image app has not been tested / approved for Android versions newer than 8.

In practice, that means if we can visualize a potential image before squeezing its shutter release button then the ZS80 is liable to be able to capture it. The zoom lens is similarly swift to respond, traveling the extent of its focal range from maximum wide angle to extreme telephoto setting in 3-4 seconds. The lens’ gliding operation is accompanied by a commendably low mechanical buzz. On such a small body with a touchscreen, one issue you encounter when using the viewfinder is that your nose can easily press the LCD and send the focusing point elsewhere.

Overall though, we were pretty happy with the shots we got from the Panasonic Lumix TZ95, particularly given the limitations outlined above. But then we were unusually blessed with plenty of spring sunshine... Panasonic has improved the design of the Lumix DC-TZ95D digital camera with the development of the new Lumix DC-TZ95D. Designed with the classic compact size of the DC-TZ95 but now with an improved 20,3 MP MOS sensor and a 2.330K-dot live viewfinder and an improved 1800K dot screen resolution, allowing for enhanced clarity even in love light situations. While its size may suggest a simple snapshot camera, the ZS80 offers photo enthusiasts unadulterated Raw files as well as JPEG capture, plus the ability to shoot up to 4K-resolution video. A long battery life of approximately 380-shots per charge ensures you the power you need when on the go. Should you run out of juice, USB charging is available to give you a power boost no matter where you are. Sample Photos - Exposure is reliable, and detail is quite good. Colour reproduction was particularly pleasing, outdoors, in good weather, with bright saturated colours. Indoors there was a tendency for images to have a yellow (warm) tone, which may or may not be to everyone's liking, however you can now use the "AWB Cool" option if you'd prefer more neutral results. Noise is visible, even when shooting at the lowest ISO speeds when viewing images at 100%, and this can reduce detail, however, the effect is quite "film" like. The extracted stills don’t stand up to super-close scrutiny, but for sharing online or printing at small sizes, they’re more than adequate. The other features to be found on the Panasonic Lumix TZ95’s faceplate are a narrow window housing the flash that sits just below the Lumix logo. Unfortunately the flash is in a position where your forefinger can very easily obscure it when gripping the camera with the right hand – so that’s something you need to be aware of, especially when handing the camera to someone else to take your picture, as well one might when travelling. Nestled next to the lens meanwhile, where it is out of the way of stray fingertips, is a familiar AF assist /self timer lamp. Burst: 30 frames/sec, max. 15 min/4K Burst (S/S): 30 frames/sec, max. 15 min/4K Pre-Burst: 30 frames/sec, approx. 2 sec/Exif Information: Yes (Each JPEG image cropped out of the 4K burst file complies with EXIF.)/Auto Marking Function: Auto / Face Priority / Motion Priority (in 4K Burst mode and 4K Burst (S/S) mode) The current range offers a huge choice of speed, image quality, movie quality, zoom range and much, much more.Bridge cameras usually come with full manual controls so that you can take full control of the camera settings. This allows you to adjust the camera to match the shot you want. The optical zoom is also built into the camera body, meaning you won’t need to manually switch lenses. Instead, you can switch from telephoto to wide angle with the press of a button. Moving the TZ95 / ZS0’s mode dial to the Creative Control position provides access to 22 effects including Expressive, Retro (shown here), Old Days, High Key, Low Key, Sepia, Monochrome, Dynamic Monochrome, Rough Monochrome (above), Impressive Art, High Dynamic, Cross Process, Toy Effect, Toy Pop, Bleach Bypass, Miniature Effect, Soft Focus, Fantasy, Star Filter, One Point Colour and Sunshine. Approx. 90 min (rear monitor), 80 min (LVF)/FHD/60p, FHD/50p: Approx. 100 min (rear monitor), 90 min (LVF) With respect to GPS tagging I had a (still have) a Sony HX9V with built in GPS but I found the GPS so slow that I could not be sure a shot would have the location tagged. I thought a phone based system whilst entailing more steps would be better. Sharpness at the 24mm end of the lens is very good in the center of the frame when shooting at the widest aperture of f/3.5, although the edges and corners of the frame are noticeably softer.
