About this deal

My first and second efforts were not happy – and I appealed to the wider community for some input which I received many a useful comment and link to online tutorials. I did have another run at the sword in particular (and I was sure I’d taken pictures but for the life of me cannot find them right now). It remained “okay” but I didn’t get that “finished!” feeling we all look for when painting something up. Once you have allied yourself with one of these ways of life you will build your warband of heroes from a myriad of choices, arm and equip them for their adventures and then play through narrative-driven scenarios which will then see you tell the story of your characters. Thank you for reading this tidy little selection of Burrows & Badgers miniatures. You may also find some of the following of interest! Really I want to cut down on the amount of pluses and minuses for every action as well, make it a bit more intuitive. Maybe not have any minuses at all, I’m not sure yet. I like them on wounds though, I like wounded models to have some kind of problem from being wounded. We’ll see how it goes. Finally, Massive Hounds have d10 Strike, Strong (3) and Tough (2), meaning they are one of the few beasts happy to go paw to paw with a Wildcat. A Ranged stat of d4 and the Natural Hunter skill means they won’t be doing much shooting, though.

The Medium beasts also use a 30mm base. Hedgehogs have Spines, which helps them survive in combat; with Heavy Armour and a Shield, they can make decent tanks. Their d8 Presence stat makes them acceptable Light, Unbound and Noble magic casters too. When you first start choosing a Warband, the sheer number of options can be a bit confusing. People keep asking us endless questions; which races work well together, are mice any good at fighting, should I just get foxes, and should they all be wizards? Complicated stuff, obviously…

Talk to us...

At the beginning of a campaign, this helps you decide on the direction you want to take your warband and might also dictate which animals join your employ. That’s a real shame some folks aren’t using ambushing…I’ve successfully dealt 14 wounds at one point to a Wildcat…with a mouse that sprang out of an ambush in one fell swoop. There’s something incredibly satisfying about very nearly one-shotting a wildcat with a lowly mouse (when the dice go nearly perfectly).

I will talk about my Badger as an example. He has Furious Charge meaning that he gets a bonus to his Strike when he charges a certain distance AND he combines this with Berserk meaning that as he gets damaged there is a chance he can go off in a wild rage. Immediately you’ve got the built-in character for your animals! I have a handful of miniatures to paint up and over the next few days and weeks, I'll be putting some updates into this post here so you can see what progress I've made and hopefully give me a nudge in the right direction too. What Are You Working On? After games, you’ll go through all of the standard things you do with campaign games. You’ll roll for injuries and death, spend your experience, pay upkeep for those in your employ, hire new recruits and do some trading. Oathsworn, are the creators behind the Burrows & badgers miniatures & figurines, which are anthropomorphic animal characters armed with swords, axes, clubs and bows. These miniatures are also clad in characterful armour that appears to be inspired from dark age England and Europe. There are LOADS of skills to choose from as I mentioned before and the ways you can mould and adapt your force to suit your playstyle go beyond what I can explain in this review. Why Should I Play Burrows & Badgers?Massive Birds have a reasonable statline; nothing incredible, but they have Flight, and d8 Fortitude and Presence means they can be fairly good spell casters.

You can buy the B&B figurines from the online Oathsworn shop, alongside other Burrows & Badgers accessories from the terrain to the rule book. For sure, it’s those moments that make the games great and memorable, but nicer when they’re rare and not the norm! Michael mentioned in the comments that they often clear out infestations of larvae, beetles, cave spiders and other mindless beasts. Perhaps they might end up running into a deadly Stag Beetle Grub that has invaded the sewers and is scaring off the local populace. Excellent. I love that. That’s what you want. It’s the kind of thing where you need that to be possible, just not happening all the time. So it’s trying to find that balance where you get good moments without it just being completely random. Toads can be equipped to be excellent tanks, and also make very good ambushers; they also make some of the most survivable spell casters in the game. So yeah, lately it’s been more that I buy them, they sit on the shelf behind me and haunt me, and one day…
