About this deal

Kate Bush’s 1985 album Hounds Of Love will be reissued on CD and vinyl later this year, it has been announced. It deals with big issues - childhood fantasy and trauma, conflict, sexuality - but rarely lapses into pretension.

It is a perfectly good remix for the radio/single, but loses some of the impact of the original album version. Hounds Of Love remains the only Kate Bush studio album that has been expanded into any kind of ‘deluxe’ edition when in 1997 EMI issued a new CD edition as part of its Centenary celebrations with a modest six extra tracks.

Hounds of Love" arrived at a wonderfully opportune moment, and it was an easy sell: MTV were becoming inclusive of other genres and artists, and record labels more willing to spend vast sums on videos due to their established promotional advantages.

Hello my copy seems to have a press release large gatefold sleeve with a picture of the front cover of hounds of love with the text The Album hounds of love with a purple ribbon and a double sided purple A4 sheets. And though it may be her watershed moment, the album, its classic singles and accompanying videos are part of a conceptual cycle that would continue with her later, more underrated records, presenting further autobiographical subject matter, romantic imagery and studio wizardry. In 1985, when MTV was reaching the peak of its viewership and veteran British acts were suddenly experiencing more pressure to adapt and take new directions, she finally broke the notoriously imperious American market. And yes, my system is set up correctly, and not suffering from the issues I’m having with this pressing). The Studio Album has been fully remastered by Kate and James Guthrie and will be released for the first time in over 10 years in premium 180g Heavyweight vinyl.
