About this deal

December 2021 – and sorry if that’s not 100% clear. All we have to go on right now is the few words the community team have put out. The Tyranids Index Detachment, the Invasion Fleet, allows the Tyranids to adapt their weaponry to suit whatever enemy they are facing inbattle. The additional detachments in their codex allow them to double-down on one type of model: huge monsters in the Crusher Stampede, sneaky and swiftVanguard Onslaught organisms, an Unending Swarm of lesser creatures, the psychic abominations of theSynaptic Nexus, or a resilient Assimilation Swarm. Some excellent variety in this set, you have squaddies, heavies and terminators. Lead by a chaos lord and supported by a hugemongous tank-dog Nooks and crannies in alien fleshwork great with Contrast paints. Similarly, their bone carapaces work well with dry brushing techniques, helping you make the model’s edges pop while maintaining their unique organic feel. Savings wise, we’re once again looking at last year where we had anything from 25% – 37% in savings for these boxes versus buying the units individually at retail. That’s Nothing to sniff at!

The Astra Militarum got a box true to the phrase “Cadia stands!”, as the Cadian Defence Force brings some serious firepower alongside the heroes of the Imperium. The box contains two squads of foot soldiers, two tanks and a command squad to guide them through the storm of battle. That alone would be worth a letter to Santa, but how much can you save on the Defence Force? Not a bad starter force or an addition to an existing one. Standard Sisters and Sacresants, but the draw here are the 2 tanks. The Immolator is cool but nothing beats what GW have described as a “long-range, missile-launching pipe organ cum-temple” no, Seriously, they did. (cue childing giggling) The jury is out on the value of these as we haven’t seen the prices yet, but anything in the ballpark of last year makes these sets a steal. What do you think about the new Games Workshop Warhammer 40k Christmas Battleforces value for 2023? Some pretty great boxes overall, and if these rumors are true, each army is going to get a decent number of savings. Orks are looking to come out on top, but the Nids box and the Space Marines box will be getting a ton of new minis in their boxes. All Monsters in the Crusher Stampede Detachment get +1 to hitonce their unit is below Starting Strength: if they start as a unit with one model, that means as soon as they’ve taken a wound. Once below half strength (ie, they’ve lost half their wounds), they get +1 to wound as well. Next up, there are two Xenos boxes, with Tyranids and Orks getting a box. The Ork box will focus on Beast Snaggas, while the Tyranid box will be focused on the Norn Emissary and other new units. If you’re designing your own color scheme, look to nature for inspiration; insects, crustaceans, reptiles, and amphibians have some amazing color combinations.

The enhancements available to this Detachment all relate to Harvesters: the Instinctive Defence Enhancement turns a unit into a guard dog for Harvesters, letting it use the Heroic Intervention Stratagem for free to defend them, or letting it be healed by two Harvester units each turn. Claim all of the biomass in the galaxy for the all powerful Hive Mind with this Broodswarm. It features several units that are ideal for inclusion in any Tyranid force, whether you’re starting a new army or adding to an existing one, all for less than you’d pay getting the models separately. So what do you get inside and how much would it cost you normally? All of the points have been given for the basic unit options and include no upgrades, but you can make changes with the way some models are built. Leagues of Votann – Defenders of the Ancestors Warhammer Community / Games Workshop Unit Few creatures in the Mortal Realms feed with such gory abandon as the monstrous Vengorian Lords. These bestial vampires may have discarded their noble facade, but they are still capable commanders who can control entire legions of the undead. The Vengorian Court contains a contingent of five Blood Knights, 20 Deathrattle Skeletons, 10 Dire Wolves, and three Fell Bats, and a Vengorian Lord – who can also be built as the legendarily fearsome Lauka Vai, Mother of Nightmares.Personally I was looking for exactly this combination of stuff, for various reasons that include being stupid enough to own not one but two Marine armies and this neatly covering things I needed for both, but if you don’t have the particular brainworms I do then you might find some of this box a bit extraneous. If you’re newer to Marines and don’t already have an Impulsor or many Phobos guys (who legitimately are great in 9th edition) then this is still potentially a good buy, and Invictors aren’t horrible in-game and are fun kits so if you’re not looking to be hyper-competitive they’re a cool toy and will do just fine on the table. Necrons – Eradication Legion Each Tyranid Hive Fleet has its own specialisation, making them entirely unique despite some shared features. Here are some of the most famous Hive Fleets known to us:
