About this deal

It has been a delight to work with Boldwood who have delivered everything they promised and so much more. This is definitely a standalone book, but if you have ready any of the author's previous books, then you will most likely recognise some characters, and of course the wonderful town of Whitsborough Bay. After the first two sentences I was concerned "I blame it on my dad. If he hadn't died when I was only 6 I don't think I'd have been so obsessed with older men." 😳 what??? Like I know people have issues but this was a huge read flag! Then it went on to read: "Let me be really clear for a moment. I wasn't looking for an older man to be a replacement father or anything weird like that." Ya, cause that would be the weird part 🙄 "It's just that I was drawn to them more than anyone close to my own age. There was a confidence about them. Maturity. Experience. They were attentive. They knew what they wanted. In some cases they knew what was best for me too. And I kind of liked not having to make decisions for myself" Ruby is certain her grandson would be perfect for Callie but Callie is unsure if he even exists. He never seems to show up when Ruby is expecting him and Callie hates to think of her being disappointed.

For Sarah Peterson, it’s time for change. Coming out of a dead end relationship and having had enough of city life, she just needs to escape and have a fresh start – a new job, a new home and a new lifestyle.STARRY SKIES OVER THE CHOCOLATE POT CAFE takes place in a lovely setting with a close knit and supportive set of shop owners during the most festive time of the year. It brings to the forefront how important our friends are to us and how we should make the most of our time. It is a lovely story that left me happy and with a big smile! I’m so excited to read more by Jessica Redland. I really enjoyed the main characters and the storyline developed nicely, with each having equal billing. I loved the setting too and would so love to visit Whitsborough Bay to go Christmas shopping. Jessica's writing brought a strong imagery which made me forget my real life. It had me crying, laughing, smiling, loving, and being angry. The only niggle I had was the hero was bang perfect for her... Well, that's the joy of fiction - such unbelievable men are easy to write about. I would love to live somewhere like Whitsborough Bay, there is a feeling of family and togetherness as everyone wants to help everyone, they are friends and supportive and there is just a magical feel to it all. Tara was such a complex well developed character that my heart went out to... she had a rough past and had really close herself off to people.... The character growth in her was the best part of the book, I loved watching this closed off person grow into such a strong vibrant character! I also enjoyed her friendship with Carly and her blooming relationship/Romance with an unlikely character... and my review would not be complete if I did not give a big shout out to Hercules the giant house bunny, I need to Google how big this bunny could be? He really acted more like a dog then a rabbit....

Jessica Redland has done it again, written a book of emotions in a superlative manner which had me smiling with a hint of tears glinting in my eyes. The emotions this book evoked showed me why I adore this author. I couldn't be happier to be keeping Boldwood as my writing home for at least my next twelve books and am excited to see where the future takes us,” Jessica added. I adore the cover and title for this book. As soon as I read the book description, I couldn't help but be even more drawn to it and I am so glad I read it. But when an unwelcome visitor threatens the future of her café, Hollie must stay strong to protect her family's legacy...Elise doesn't just have her heartbreak to contend with, her sister announces she is pregnant (something that Elise wishes she was), and her best friend is getting married, and Elise is to be bridesmaid, along with Sarah's other friend who Elise doesn't really get along with. A sense of familiarity – they can picture it and, for some genres, the reader will want to keep returning, meaning they’ll embrace a series or several standalones in the same setting

Jessica was able to become a full-time author in June 2020 after a career mainly in HR, as a recruiter and trainer, and she is now able to do something she loves every day.Author Jessica Redland is amazing. She not only can make me see emotions in the story, she can make me feel them too. This book was like a giant teddy bear, hugging me warmly on a cold Sunday evening. Nobody had ever kissed my hand before. I felt like a heroine in an Austen novel, being wooed by an English gent. I had to fight hard not to giggle childishly or say anything stupid. It had always been Tabby's dream to work with cats and an inheritance from her beloved nanna has finally made that a reality. Idyllic Castle Street in Whitsborough Bay couldn’t be a better place for pastry chef Tabby to open a cat café with her boyfriend, Leon. Danniella's story was the best one of the three. You could feel the anxiety and pain she was going through. You never were really sure what it was about until she finally reveals her secret. At first you think it's the bulimia but it is so much deeper and so much more painful. Her story was, IMO, the most well thought out and realistic of the three. Her story truly had an arc. Her ending was actually a new beginning and it was the best possible outcome for her. Honestly, if this whole book had been just about her, I would've been ok with it.

I was surprised with the direction this book took - I thought it'd be a cosy romance - it is cosy, and there is some romance, but it's not at the center of the story. Having really enjoyed Searching for Steven, I was very curious to see what Jessica Redland's new book would be like. Imagine my delight when I see that it centres around Elise, who is Sarah's best friend, and as a result we get to see more of Sarah who I really liked in the first book, and more of various characters that I already knew. Hercules is one of my favourite pets I've read for ages, then again I've not really read about many giant house bunny's let alone one that seems to have almost dog like behaviours. Danniella is running from her past, so when she arrives at the beautiful seaside resort of Whitsborough Bay, the last thing on her mind is making friends. After all, they might find out her secrets…" So when her penpal, Rosie, invites her to stay in the Lake District, Autumn jumps at the chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. After all, where better to re-discover her creativity than the place which inspired her heroine, Beatrix Potter?Middlesbrough-born author Jessica Redland has just signed a 12-book deal with Boldwood Books (Image: Jessica Redland) I made a decision for my first series to create fictional settings inspired by real places. Whitsborough Bay is geographically placed where my hometown of Scarborough is but the town is a mix of Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and my imagination. This gives me flexibility to add in whatever I need to make my story work but gives readers who know and love the area a sense of familiarity. This was a beautifully told story, filled with quirky and charming characters that completely captured my heart!
