The depth of colour range is amazing and there is the bonus of a viewfinder as well. The 60 offers the same compact size and more pixels. The extra pixels are irrelevant unless you are printing above 14 X 16 Inches! (if it's cropping out or poster printing that is your style then go for highest pixel rating you can afford with the highest quality lens you can afford!) Whether shooting videos or stills, image quality is as good as you could want from a compact digital: chromatic aberrations do occur in extreme contrast situations, but they’re rare enough not to be an issue. Sharpness at default settings is excellent without being overdone and causing artefacts. The only criticism of Canon’s DIGIC image processor is that the automatic white balance can be inaccurate, particularly in strong sunlight; it pays to manually select daylight white balance where possible. Several models have found favor within the Kite Aerial Photography ( KAP) community due to a unique combination of small size/ low weight, excellent image quality with stabilization, and the option of expanded manual control including intervalometer functionality available via 3rd party CHDK.And, for macro shots, few cameras can match the Canon for closeness. Movies were great too – VGA clips can be shot at 30fps and, unlike others, the Ixus supports digital zooming. Average audio quality was our only gripe.
