About this deal

This book is so fun, such a fresh voice in romance! Suzanne Glidewell's debut is a sweet romance with themes of home and self-discovery set in Seattle. As someone who recently moved to WA, I enjoyed the references to Seattle-specific beers and neighborhoods that I have been in the process of exploring. Her characters are incredibly easy to root for, both multi-dimensional and loveable. TW: SA, domestic abuse, depression, self harm, and likely a few others. Please be aware before reading the book. Her journey takes her deep into feminist philosophies as she struggles to understand the unfolding media- driven drama of the Oscar Pistorius trial while researching issues of ethics in the legal profession.

Nikki’s passion for law, mothering and finding a ‘work-life-balance’ is truly admirable. Amongst and between the well-written essays or ‘vignettes’ she manages to weave a golden thread – of the two highest virtues – Truth in the service of Love. I don't always read novels like this, when I do it is very rare. Lately all I have read was surrealism and satire. This novel kind of falls in between paranormal/ supernatural and contemporary. It's a very sweet and touching novel. Nature is a big thing, a theme. There is a whole feast of description of the beautiful land that the three main characters Julie, Ian, and Virgil Blue inhabit. The book cover is also beautiful, and I'm assuming that it is portraying the land in the book. So, I have a soft spot for any story that uses ghosts/spirits in an interesting way, and Somewhere In Between scratches that itch.

Somewhere In Between by Donna Milner | Goodreads

While I am not a practicing Catholic the majority of my family is and I felt this book was written very true to the faith and practices. It was easy to picture the story and feel like I was part of Thomas and Maura’s journey. Life is hard and messy and complicated and these two have quite the path to forge. I’m looking forward to book #2 to see how their journey ends. Pseudo-punk Magnolia and underachieving gamer-geek Rom are two unlikely friends who only hang out during their walks home together after school. When they find the a portal that leads to different worlds, they use the “in-between place” as an escape from their lives in high school, then later, after college. Here is a novel that I received for review by Caitlin Press. This review will also be on the blog tour for this novel, so welcome aboard! I will put the synopsis here, then I will talk about it because this is what this is for: The novel raised many questions which will stay with me long after closing the book. For instance, what can we "settlers" learn from people of the First Nations on whose traditional land we now reside? Is there any way we can help to change attitudes even if we can't change history? And what of our own heritage brought to Canada by our ancestors from elsewhere? Virgil is without a voice due to throat cancer and sometimes uses an electrolarynx or write notes. His very rich and poignant story is told by the narrator. I appreciated passages in which the details were meticulous and meditative.

There were a few minor issues unrelated to my bias that seemed a bit random. And based on the title, I was expecting a more fast paced suspense thriller. However, this does NOT diminish the brilliance of the author’s writing. Dawn is a master of seamlessly moving between time and space with her storylines. And her ability to create solid, believable characters (even ones you hate!) magnifies the talent of her craft. A conversation at Tim Horton's (a coffee shop) begins the story of a couple looking to buy a ranch in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia. Then the landscape takes over and the first chapter becomes a beautiful description of the expanse of land. It helps to ground readers in place and introduces one of the forms of silence explored in Somewhere In-Between. This particular silence is an appreciation of the surroundings: the old-growth forest, the willow-lined creek and "a haze of coastal mountains." As the story unfolds, readers are introduced to the O'Dales' daughter, Darla, who communicates from her state of "in-between." These sections are reminiscent of Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones in which the young victim speaks from beyond the grave. urn:lcp:somewhereinbetwe0000gill_c2q8:epub:588645a7-e475-4f49-9e6e-d51a0b44c79f Foldoutcount 0 Identifier somewhereinbetwe0000gill_c2q8 Identifier-ark ark:/13960/t8md8tx4q Invoice 1652 Isbn 9780340923511

Somewhere In Between - Kingdom Winds Somewhere In Between - Kingdom Winds

The self-righteous, headstrong lawyering mother has a new and greater challenge. No longer seeking the approval of her successful mother, one of South Africa’s first women judges, Niki is out to find that elusive concept of the ‘work/life’ balance and some real, sustainable solutions. Gentle and moving, The In-Between takes readers where few think they would want to go: deep into the world of hospice nursing. The combined beauty, faith, and compassion found in each patient’s death is meaningful and sublime.” —Theresa Brown, RN, New York Times bestselling author of The Shift This read is a little different for me, but I really enjoyed it! I LOVE books in dual perspectives and the author did a great job writing this in dual perspective! I adored Maura and found myself really rooting for her throughout the story. Thomas kind of got on my nerves a little bit, but I’m excited to see his character growth in the next book. We got hints of it in this book so I think he’s on an interesting journey! As angry as I was reading this book, I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO HER! I was up rage reading really late. You get a very realistic look at what it’s like being married to a narcissist while also battling depression and the isolation that usually goes along with that. The descriptions of the physical beauty of Chilcotin country are so exact, so gorgeous that I wanted to drive up there tomorrow. You can smell the fresh air, hear the wind in the trees, see the sparkling lake waters.Erica Maity narrated. I have to say it was fantastic. From pacing to tone, she captured the essence of the story and helped build on the scenes and suspense. Her character voices were flawless, and she added another level of enjoyment to this thriller.
