About this deal

But my favorite part with Paul was the scene when he meets Rimbaud again and the last gift. Yoshihide's expressions in the stage play were so on point, I was weeping. Together with Albatross, Doc, Lippmann, and Iceman, Piano Man surprised and congratulated Chūya for his first-year anniversary in joining the Mafia. With the latter in a bad mood that day more so after learning that he was invited to the Flags to be kept under watch, Iceman and Chūya got into a brief skirmish which Piano Man thwarted. Instead, he gave Chūya a photograph of him in his childhood as their gift for his anniversary, a gift that Piano Man deemed to be quite challenging to find. Afterwards, the Flags played billiards in their usual place, where an unknown man suddenly joined them.

The Flags were a group of young mafiosi aged 25 years old and below who held relatively high ranks within the Mafia. The group originally didn't have a name until Lippmann decided to call them the "Flags", borrowing from the metaphor of a flag being used in Ancient Rome as a beacon of announcing its bearer's presence. Founded and led by Piano Man, its members included Lippmann, Albatross, Doc, Iceman, and Chūya Nakahara. Each member had his own responsibility in the Mafia: Language: English Words: 1,107 Chapters: 1/1 Collections: 1 Comments: 4 Kudos: 23 Bookmarks: 6 Hits: 232 During Chūya's absence, Lippmann and the other Flags were "summoned" by the boss, Mori, but they were actually ambushed by Verlaine. After the assassin massacred the five of them, Verlaine apparently took Lippmann's body and placed it into his vehicle's trunk. Moments later, when Chūya asked Verlaine about the Flags, Verlaine showed him Lippmann's corpse that fell off the vehicle, leading the latter to figure out that his friends had been killed. It was a few months before the whole thing went down, Chuuya thinks. Before he was a year into his work in the Port Mafia, before Adam Frankenstein, before Paul Verlaine. The Flags were spending a day together after a job well done, and had all somehow had enough time left over. The group was especially happy because Albatross’s birthday was coming up, and the extroverted man would have most likely complained if they hadn’t done anything for the event, considering they’d be busy on the actual day. io non penso che ci sia un altro modo per descrivere questo light novel se non: pain and suffering, sia di me che leggo sia di chuuya. The light novel continues the story after the events of "Fifteen" and the Arahabaki incident. This book basically explores Chuuya's past. I absolutely loved this book and this was one of my most anticipated releases for this year. No way I could ever rate it less than 5 stars. It has everything I needed - no romance, fight scenes, sci-fi, supernatural abilities and great characters. Also, only bungou stray dogs can make you empathize even with the anatgonists. Lippmann was a movie star who also operated as the Mafia's negotiator. Due to Lippmann's fame, he was even deemed harder to kill than the Mafia boss Ōgai Mori himself, since news of his murder would circulate internationally and spiral various parties into hunting down the killer.

The Flags engaged with the man named Adam, suspecting that he is an ability user and may infiltrate the Mafia facility, more so after learning that he was a detective. Piano Man almost decapitated the man's head, only for his piano wire to glide around his skin. The misconception was soon relieved once Adam, also introducing himself as an android, revealed that his mission was to protect Chūya and arrest an assassin named Paul Verlaine. The seven soon continued playing billiards, with Piano Man pressing questions to Adam about his investigation. Soon after, Adam grabbed Chūya away from the place to show the proof that Verlaine was alive, leaving the Flags behind. As a robot, Adam's programming does not cover everything and he must occasionally update it, sometimes based on incorrect interpretations of the world. For example, when his plane crash lands in a forest, he simply decides Japanese airports are covered in trees, and later keeps swallowing gum under the impression it can be consumed. Nonetheless, he is extremely proud of his robotic nature and frequently tells people about his myriad of different functions. However, as powerful as he is, Adam is not perfect, as his lie detection function cannot distinguish Osamu Dazai's words as the truth or lies. Dazai thinks that, in general, the soul is a formality. A concept that has no place in the Mafia. A concept that has no place in the chest of a demon. But even if it did, it would still be a formality — and Chuuya's soul would still be warm in his palms, shivering like fire on his pale skin; it would still be an all-consuming storm. But Dazai is a demon. He watches and laughs: it's so amusingly. Nakahara Chuuya is the embodiment of contradictions. He is everything that scares and makes Osamu laugh: a brutal contrast of a heart too soft for the Mafia and a powerful force of destruction. He is everything that makes the beast in his chest hiss and growl; he is everything that Dazai simply cannot comprehend. I am currently obsessed with this manga, and the light novels are just everything. Reading an actual novel about characters you only know through manga is amazing, it’s like seeing the story from a whole new perspective. And the fact that these novels are exploring the most beloved characters… I wish every series was like this.

Nakahara Chuuya knew he was going to spend the anniversary of the Flag's death, just like he always did in the solitary confinement of his own home and a few bottles of wine. Only this year it didn't exactly go according to plan. Dazai always kept tabs on him on that day to make sure nothing happened unbeknownst to Chuuya. And this year it paid off.
