I have always judged people how I find them and I can honestly say I have never found a fault in him . The threat of an explosion is always present, yet those incidents that do occur here – shouting matches and grappling with players, arguments with opposing managers and their staff, even the climax to his United career in Ferguson’s office – are often sanitised by humour and so are difficult to reconcile fully with the fearsome character we know.An appeal, should one be forthcoming, will be heard by a different committee, headed by an independent QC and two senior figures from the FA council with legal backgrounds. Three years on from the 1999 “Treble”, and fresh from Saipan, Keane was one of the biggest names in world football and his book garnered huge attention. It’s impossible to have followed English football in the 90’s and naughties and not have a strong opinion either way. I’d played against Haaland three or four times between the game against Leeds, in 1997, when I injured my cruciate and the game when I tackled him, in 2001, when he was playing for Manchester City. We do not accept requests for autographs, signed merchandise, fan mail, birthday messages or any other non-commercial contact with the speakers or acts.

In both cases, however, it is not the decade of triumph that they dwell on, but the manner of its ending.
