About this deal

Tamnavulin was founded in 1966 by a subsidiary of Invergordon Distillers Ltd, the whisky distillery has changed little during its relatively short life. Woefully, the Tamnavulin is rather typical of 1960s-constructed distilleries and the exterior is decidedly industrial, in stark contrast to its markedly stunning locality. Matured in American oak barrels and finessed by three different types of sherry cask to complement the sweet, mellow flavour of Tamnavulin.

Tamnavulin was one of many distilleries that opened during the whisky boom of the 1960’s. Established by Invergordon Distillers, its purpose was to supply malt whisky that could be utilised in the company’s blended scotch brands. Located in the heart of Speyside, in the tiny village of Tomnavoulin, the distillery stood where once there was a Carding Mill, used by local farmers to turn their fleeces into wool. It was once common practice for Speyside distilleries to adopt the suffix of “Glenlivet” but it could be argued Tamnavulin had more of a right to it than most, being only the second distillery to physically reside within the glen of the River Livet itself. year old Tamnavulin single malt, bottled by Signatory! This one was distilled in November 1978 and left to age in an Oloroso sherry butt until February 2001, when it was bottled at cask strength with an outturn of 548 bottles.Nose: Hints of raisins but also copper coins, marzipan and a touch of crème de cassis. There’s whisper of rhubarb as well, with just a whiff of watery orange juice.

The three pairs of stills at Tamnavulin have a total capacity of four million litres annually, though this has yet to be reached. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. A collectible bottling of Tamnavulin 10 year old from the 1980s, bottled for the Italian drinks company Moon Imports. This Tamnavulin Sherry Cask Edition is a lovely, gentle and easy drinking whisky.
