About this deal

Sometimes tragic, as with the case of an unidentified woman found on a beach buried without even a name, but often uplifting and occasionally hilarious. Ashes to Admin’ lifts the coffin lid on those extraordinary personal stories that have been so often left unheard. Reading Ashes to Admin encouraged me to fire off a whole host of questions to my Council's Bereavement Services Officer and I was very relieved to find out in response that, as in Evie's case, my local Council provides a celebrant and does their best to provide Section 46 funeral recipients with as many honoured wishes as possible. Or to put it in simple terms; funerals for those with nobody around, willing or able to bury or cremate them.

If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. I started MyGoodbyes after losing my dad to cancer and recognising that so few of us talk about how we would like to die. She doesn't always succeed, but it's heartening to see the lengths to which she goes and the effort she puts in.the author is a fantastic narrator and the perfect person to guide us through this book, the emotional parts and the funny anecdotes too. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed. Since moving to the seaside and going part-time she has had more time for writing and has completed her first book about her job arranging council funerals under her pen name.Sometimes you just know that you are going to love a book from the first few sentences and that was absolutely the case with Ashes to Admin. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. In your book you said "there are so many death certificates out there with my name on and giving my relationship to the deceased as "causing the body to be burned/buried".

This book gives you an insight into what life is like as a council worker arranging funerals for the dearly departed. Evie works for her local council where she organises the funerals of those who have no family or whose family cannot afford to lay them to rest. i bought this book on a complete whim, i’d seen an advert for it and thought it sounded interesting.

I love how she isn’t overt with her quite apparent political opinions, rather focuses on work and shows the banality of the system, and why all the common tropes about useless councils are ludicrous. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. Each salon will feature a pair of speakers, authorities in fields such as osteology, forensic pathology and the paranormal, who will offer their own perspectives and insights on mortality in the city.

To ensure no one is alone when they're buried or cremated and to bring the dead to life so that we know them and their story. If the deceased has left behind documentation relating to their wishes concerning their committal, those wishes will be carried out: if there's no such information, or the deceased's identity is unknown, they will still receive a dignified send-off. It lifts the lid on the lives, and more importantly the deaths, of our country's forgotten people, dignifying them, and shaming our nation. The ticket holder voluntarily agrees that the management, venue, event participants, DesignMyNight WFL Media Ltd and all of their respective agents, officers, directors, owners and employers are expressly released by the ticket holder from any claims arising from such causes. Beautifully written, beautiful, heartbreaking, uplifting and serious food for thought for everyone since as she (obviously) correctly points out, we all die.
