About this deal

Yep. My PW is 46, so 50,54,58 provides a nice even spacing. I hit way more wedge shots in a round than long irons, so I dropped the 3 iron. In addition to the loft angle, other factors to consider when choosing a wedge include the bounce angle, the grind, and the shaft material. The bounce angle refers to the angle between the leading edge of the clubface and the sole of the club, and can greatly affect how the club interacts with the ground. The grind refers to the shape of the sole of the club, which can also impact how the club interacts with the turf. The shaft material can affect the weight and feel of the club, and may be made of steel, graphite, or other materials.

If you have a pretty solid repeatable golf swing, you will expect to hit a 58 degree wedge around 80 yards with a full shot. As most players only take half swings or three quarter swings with their wedges the distances can vary from 50 to 105 yards.Gumtree.com Limited is an Appointed Representative of Compare The Market Limited who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

50, 54, and 58 or 52, 56, and 60 or 50 - Vokey Design Wedges 50, 54, and 58 or 52, 56, and 60 or 50 - Vokey Design Wedges

I am getting some MP-53s and plan on building off of the 35.5" 46* PW with a 35.25" 50*, 35.25 55* (56* bent -1) and a 35.25 60*. Some iron sets will have a more traditionally lofted pitching wedge at 46 degrees. If you have one of these you could go for three wedges set up like this: Lofts and its effect on shot making are so personal, that there really isnt a general rule for these things. What Howard said is correct (of course, it's Howard), plus the gapping question is mostly prominent in gap wedge; most pros will opt for a 60 degree lob wedge rather than 58 if using 4 wedges so a 55 or 56 slots in there nicely. If they have 3 wedges in the bag they will have 6 degree gaps which will result in a 58 or 59. But otherwise, 4 degree gaps with 4 wedges I feel is way too limited in shotmaking ability around the greens - I myself opt for 5 degree gaps (46, 51, 56, 60 (because I don't want a 61 due to bounces and it being unecessary)). Do you carry a 3W and a Hybrid? I personally dropped my hybrid and added the extra wedge because I was hitting my 3 iron just as far as the hybrid and I don't have the tendency to top the 3 iron like I did with the hybrid.

I used to play a 60 degree wedge and I then changed my gapping and got a 58°. I genuinely cannot tell the difference in loft looking down at the club and I find that it gives me more consistent distance control on full shots. Partial pitch shots inside 60 yards work well with it, but it is especially good out of green side bunkers which is my main use for it. What club do you consider best to drop out of a standard set when you want to add an extra wedge?...sometimes it could get difficult decide which club to leave in the car to get to the regulation 14. I have been playing 46 PW with 50, 54, 58 for several years now. I thought it was smart, due to the consistent 4* gap. What I had not thought of is that the normal 4* gap between clubs also includes a 1/4" shaft difference. My 50, 54 & 58 are the same length so the yardage gap is actually less than the yardage gap of 4* + 1/4" that exists in the other irons.

Lazrus Golf Wedges Set or Individual - Forged 50, 54, 58

Currently playing a 52/58 combo, but considering changing to a 50,54,58 to make a *4 gap between my PW and the rest of the wedges. Is this overkill or are people seeing a benefit? Thank you EVERYONE for all your input. They have all been tremendously helpful. I plan on going to a shop and test out wedges to close the yardage gaps; not the loft gaps. Will keep you all posted on my results in case anybody is interested! Full set of adult sized irons ranging from 5-9 with sand and pitching wedge. Great set for beginners. All clubs in working condition, each club varies in wear and tare but nothing major. No issues wit the 53/57 combo. I can still open the face with the 57 for the flop or high loft shot but can also turn it down a little easier to drive a low skipper. The regular flex stepped steel shafts are known for their durability and consistency, which can help you maintain a more consistent swing and shot pattern. First select the most lofted wedge you would like to carry, as this is an important decision for your short game. For this discussions say its 60*. So my PW is 46, for me I played around with shafts, bounce and head shape. What I ended up doing was a 50* gap wedge, 55* SW and a 60* LW. The reasons for this were.... Having both a regular 50 and a Spin-Milled 54 gives me lots of options around the greens for chipping too. I play 45-50-54-58 which covers every situation I need. If I take one out and stretch it to 52-58 I found I was struggling with consistent distance control since I had to play a lot more in between shots.

50/54/58 wedge setup? : r/golf - Reddit Anyone play a 50/54/58 wedge setup? : r/golf - Reddit

Also its about how you use the wedges that would determine your loft setup. I dont think every player prefers to hit full shots with every wedge, so the symmetrical loft gapping seems to make little sense to me. (ie. 50-54-58 vs. 50-56-60) Since the 60* is more a specialty club. I’m curious if a 54* or the 58* would play more like the 56*.Dont take what im writing to be "correct or the facts", ive been wrong more that once......this time i forgot to mention that Wedges often has a higher center of gravity than irons = lower launch and longer distance if loft was the same, (so its more than the shaft i mentioned), and thats also a reason for why we often see a larger LOFT GAP from the PW to the GW, and then they fall into a more even pattern again.... Here's what I have been playing for the last two years... Really like the progression and versatility of it. At this point you will see the gap between them, fill in the gap with the other two wedges, to hit the numbers YOU need to balance that spread out. I like and have always kept a 60* Xlow bounce wedge in the bag. It is a cleveland and has the V sole and I can hit multiple shots with it. 58* just never had the height on some shots around the green I wanted. The sets' 45* pitching wedge (125 yards)and also the sets 49* gap wedge (112-115 yards) with "hot face" are considered short full swing irons.
