About this deal

I'm always up for a challenge, so I decided to wade into the shallows of the river I spent the day paralleling on my day hike. I know hiking sandals aren’t for everyone, but I like wearing them in the summer, they’re a great asset to have in your outdoor gear cupboard and I do rate these ones very highly compared to others I’ve worn. As a long time user of Keen, Hiking For Her is in a unique position to analyze and comment on this new trail shoe from Keen. In the last year, I’ve started to wear an orthotic insole and heel raise in my shoes (yet more evidence of my middle-agedness I think!

They have used the same all-terrain outsole as their popular hiker with a feminine, open-toe design. I love that the Terradora II fasten tightly, and stayed fastened – I rarely have to stop and refasten my laces on a walk! Get the right fit, and you'll never have to limp back to the trail head, using your hiking partner for support. Sheila Bergin Goss enjoys exploring the Vermont trails and mountains on snowshoes or cross-country skis nearly every day, often with her rescue dogs along for skijoring or kicksledding.

The shank in the Terradora is constructed of a lightweight nylon, adding minimal weight to the boot.

They adjust easily at both the ankle and toe, have a seatbelt style clip to fasten them (rather than velcro or elastic, which can wear out quickly), and there is plenty of room for my toes to spread out as I walk making these comfortable for miles at a time. I noted that the boot is approximately the same height as my Keen Targhees, also described as a "mid" boot. This means the brand has sourced factories who have passed an audit, so their worker rights, environmental impact and social compliance is up to scratch. Find the best footwear product for your next outdoor adventure using our independent reviews and ratings. From steep graded trails to your neighborhood footpath, the Terradora collection for women is all about getting out there in comfort. The boot's lacing system has allowed me to tweak and adjust the fit of the boot; by loosening the mid-foot laces, yet keeping the top half of laces snug, my heel remains snugly secured, and ankle support is provided, while I feel a reduction in pressure over the top of my left foot. These sandals have the super grippy and flexible sole of the rest of the KEEN Terradora footwear range, which I already love, but with a sandal as an upper.

Despite this she used the outdoors and healing power of nature to aid her recovery and she continues to spend time outdoors whenever she can. These boots certainly are lighter than my Keen Targhees, not just anecdotally, but on the scale, too.Since women’s feet tend to be slightly narrower than men’s, all the styles in our Terradora collection have a slimmer, women’s-specific fit. We've divided up all of the sustainable features we've identified across our product ranges and grouped them into three so you know how your purchase is making an impact: Think Nature, Think Welfare, Think People. My impression, after 6 months of use, is that this pair of Terradora II's will continue to serve me well on my frequent hikes around Vermont and the Northeast, in a variety of conditions and temperatures. Made to support every part of your foot from the ankle, to the heel, to the arch, added stability through the shank and a pressure-relieving Achilles notch help to keep you moving.

These sandals were a gift from KEEN so that I could wear them this summer and let you know what I think about think. Although I usually hike with two pairs of socks (liners + a thicker heel cushioned pair), I was able to cut that back to just one pair of socks, and had zero hot spots. Lightweight and waterproof, the Keen Women's Terradora II Waterproof Low hiking shoes also feature KonnectFit, a heel-capture system for a locked-in fit.

Design: The particular materials and elements used in the design and construction of this boot reflect the Keen company's values and its commitment to "ensure that the materials we use in our products are safe for you, our employees, and the environment. This Lifestraw review gives you all of the details you need to decide if carrying this minimalist approach to water purification is a smart hiking move for you.
