About this deal

The only wounds I would use an antibacterial cream/ointment on is wounds on the fingertips, around the nails and on the feet. Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS. For reasons of hygiene and safety, personal grooming products, cosmetics or items of intimate clothing cannot be returned. Unwanted Food or Drink Products - Once supply conditions are broken, there are a number of factors outside of our control that can affect the quality of a product. Therefore perishable goods such as food and drink cannot be returned.

If you get any, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine. Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication. Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health. STOP using and seek medical help immediately if you have any of the following very rare allergic reactions: difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, tongue or throat, dizziness, skin irritation or rash. If you experience these or other side effects, stop using and seek medical advice. These burns are a common household injury and usually affect only the top layer of the skin and don’t penetrate to other tissues. Typically these burns don’t break the skin but may cause redness, pain and sometimes swelling in the affected area. Also contains: Cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, methylhydroxybenzoate (E218) propylhydroxybenzoate (E216), disodium edetate, perfume (inc limonene, linalool, benzyl benzoate, citral) & purified water. Stop using and seek medical help immediately if you have any of the following very rare allergic reactions: In northern Europe we do not need to use an antibiotic cream or ointment unless the wound is turning nasty. Severe sunburn - often happens after an extended period of sun exposure, resulting in burns of a large portion of the skin with extensive blistering

Scalds (a type of thermal burn) - most common in young children and usually caused by hot liquid or steam. Frequency not known: Allergic skin reactions such as dermatitis, pruritus, erythema, eczema, rash, urticaria, skin irritation, and blisters Second-degree burns are more serious as they don’t only affect the outer layer of the skin, but also the dermis underneath. They often cause redness, pain, blistering and swelling, however, the symptoms can vary depending on the severity of this type of burn. More severe symptoms include wet-looking wounds, irregular pattern burn of the affected area, intense pain and white/deep red appearance of the skin. If you experience any of the latter symptoms, it’s recommended to visit your GP/hospital for medical examination.Savlon Antiseptic Cream contains effective germ-killing and cleansing agents. Savlon's smooth moisturising cream base allows gentle application onto damaged skin. No investigations in children have been performed. However, frequency, type and severity of adverse reactions in children are expected to be the same as in adults. After a good cleaning, let the wound bleed for a bit. Think internal cleaning. Blood contains antibodies that will take care of bacteria. In most cases all that should be done is to clean it with clean water, saline solution is even better. Cover with a plaster or bandage. Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).

Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions. Parahydroxybenzoates may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216): may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). Directions: With clean hands gently apply cream to the affected area. Do not use on the eyes or ears. This on small, shallow cuts and abrasions. The deep ones, that might need suturing, need to be cleaned, bandaged, then seek professional help. I personally prefer Neosporin. I carry that plus a 14 day course of Augmentin XR ( Amoxicillin plus Clavulanic acid, slow release) which is a very good broad spectrum antibiotic. I carry so I can take one tablet every 8 hours as opposed to the standard one tablet every 12 hours. if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, especially Chlorhexidine as it may cause allergic reactions.
