It's great to have so much choice, but it can initially be a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what everything does and how to use it, especially when it comes to editing. Video tutorials and pop-up tips definitely help, but there's still a lot to take in and thus a lot of trial and error involved. To be fair, it's to be expected when there are so many features, though it's slightly frustrating that most tutorials are videos rather than easily skimmable text. Like I’ve mentioned both the Insta360 One RS and the X3 can shoot 360 video as well as standard flat video. Both the X3 and One RS shoot 360 video at 5.7K 30fps. The X3 shoots flat video at 4K 30fps whereas the One RS can shoot 4K @60fps

Editing in the app is an interesting experience. You place a keyframe marker on the timeline, then when you’re ready to switch to a new angle, drop a new marker, and manually drag to the new viewpoint. Unlike conventional editing, however, the app will smoothly transition between viewpoints instead of an instant switch. The Insta360 One RS can shoot stills, but we wouldn’t recommend buying one for the job. Shooting feels quite slow, with a notable wait between each exposure as the camera processes/saves the files. It’s much like other action cameras in this respect.

Insta360 has changed the mic layout for the One RS, adding an additional microphone to allow for more sound modes. As well as wind noise reduction, you can choose Stereo or Directional Enhancement. These two will play with how the sound recorded by the two right/left mics in the central module sits in the final audio mix. Both the One RS Boost Mod and X3 feature a half inch sensor for shooting standard video, and they can both capture 4K resolution video. The One RS Boost Mod can shoot at 60fps whereas as the X3 is limited to 30fps.

The first time I used it was when attending the opening of Apple Brompton Road, the fifth Apple Store in London, and the third flagship. Since I knew there would be plenty of standard video online, as half the people in the store were shooting with their iPhones, I opted to shoot 360-degree video to provide the most immersive experience possible.For stabilization, it uses FlowState stabilization which supports up to 5.7K to keep the video smooth.
