About this deal

Because life is not black and white, because bad and good things happen to bad and to good people and it's ok, how you deal and learn is what counts. you ain't seen NOTHING yet when it comes to filth from PD 🔥🔥🔥), and beautifully told - I loved the way it made me FEEL.

PD really built the characters and their dynamic up well, but I was a little disappointed with how certain things just fizzled out. She was obviously very neglected and lonely, but had more or less come to terms with the fact that her parents didn’t care. It’s beautiful seeing Tiernan’s transformation from someone who’s always lonely, empty, and not used to having people care about her into someone who grows to appreciate, trust, and love the people around her.I don't really know how exactly to go about discussing this book as it doesn't really fit in any of the prescribed boxes (or tropes) in which we romance readers like to shove things. Obviously if it were up to me I wouldn’t let the smut get this far (Tiernan having sex with all the Van der Bergs). she went from hating him for most of the book to supposedly being in love with him and then hating him once they had an argument about nothing. If you have read other Penelope's books you will know by now she has a lot of darkness in her stories and here us where the beauty comes, she took real feelings even the most dark and ugly and turns them in something amazing. When they find out that the father has cancer, the mom and the dad both kill each other-- and they don't even leave Tiernan a note.

I mean, I ultimately got on board the pairing by the end because it was somewhat healing and they were obviously very happy— though that’s not to say these relationships are healthy at all and they’re not to be romanticised!

The first half of the book is a bit of a slow burn as we’re introduced to the main characters: Tiernan, Jake, Noah and Kaleb. But to me, it’s the words in the book I’m reading, not the little details here and there, though I understand some people collect books etc.

She's forlorn, colorless and vapid to begin with, but soon develops wings like a butterfly and finds her place in their home. It was really easy to empathise with a lot of these characters and their situations were so sad to read about, especially Tiernan's, and some of the things they talked about really gutted me. idk why PD insists making their female mcs underage (for at least the first part of the book) and at this point i'm too afraid to ask. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.i had to read about this lady for so long and by the end of the book i barely knew her any more than i did when i hadn’t even started the book yet. Tiernan de Haas finds herself in an unusual residing association with her late cousin’s three guardians, Kaleb, Noah, and Jax. That said, I thought Penelope Douglas does a great job setting the scene in the remote mountains and it really does feel like anything can happen—and it obviously does. i honestly think tiernan should’ve ended up with him, he seemed to make her alot more happy than kaleb or jake did, and he had fun with her and made her laugh. because all i see is this girl going to live in the mountains for a month with her uncle and cousins and idk about you but that seems like a pretty normal occurrence in everyday life so i’m not really sure what the big deal is.
