About this deal
Once you put your postcode into our fibre checker, there are a few possible results – it’s not a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. There was also criticism that faults weren’t being fixed for competitor internet service providers (ISPs) as fast as they were for BT.
On 17 October 2019 , I registered my fibre interest with BT-Openreach and they said, we'll keep you informed on progress in your area, as we include more locations into our plans on a regular basis.SSEN have actually been working with the R100/SBVS program in Scotland to make it much easier to get access to the LV poles in their network, it's just possible that Airband haven't found that out yet. Airband are installing overhead FTTP across much of the area, but my understanding is that our power distribution company (Scottish Power Energy Networks) has refused access to their low voltage poles (i.
The same rules apply everywhere, Openreach don’t get to randomly invent new non-standard products because of gap funding, that’s within the gift of alternative networks. In fact if OR mounted the ONT, preferably in the casing, on the plywood board as in the photo, I could easily put a 25 mm hole for the fibre. Far safer to just provide an easily replaceable, locked down NTE and have clear demarcation and easier replacement. Like a DSLAM it delivers a bunch of VLANs, possibly nested depending on CP, to the OLT which are then sent to service providers via Cablelinks.
From what I gather, the ONT “Authenticates” based on MAC Address (i know this because when I moved into my new build, it didn’t work initially as they had the MAC Address down with one letter wrong).
