About this deal
The midbass area of the Brainwavz B400 is more pronounced than its subbass region while both are pretty equal in terms of midbass impact, depth and intensity. Female vocals do benefit from the well pronounced and pretty highlighted upper midrange that makes female voices like Diana Krall or Hannah Reid very pleasant to listen to.
The second big difference between OH10 and OH1 is in the material of the housing, as the shape of the housing is the same in both IEMs. The Spring 1 is mildly U shape IEM, it has good amount of bass, lush and smooth midrange, and detail and well extended treble. It is a hybrid IEM consisting of a 10mm dynamic driver made of a polymer composite and a Knowles 33518 balance armature driver. The extra oomph injected more adrenaline into my blood stream, improving my mood and well-being for the rest of the day. Its spectral decay is good but not great, you can clearly see a longer vibration in the bass region, suggesting that its dynamic driver moves at a slower pace to its balanced armature. With dual-DAC portable devices that have a lower channel crosstalk, OH10 started sounding even deeper and more holographic, increasing the empty spaces between musical notes and expanding the overall picture. If we look closer to the monitor shell you can see that the monitor housing of the OH10 is made two main parts.
But for anyone looking for a more neutral and analytical sound signature, the Gems will provide all that they could want. There is no point in giving some music examples, as I will be arriving at the same conclusion that OH10 is clean, detailed and undistorted if you don’t go overboard with the volume. The most sensitive part is elevated by 5 dB and there is a bigger rise of ~10 dB somewhere between ~11 to 12 kHz after which it starts going down.
With OH10, there is an overwhelming feeling of power down low, the air is heavier, it contains more air mass, lowest notes are more visceral and harder pounding.
