The wheel shape of Atmosphere is similar to BlissLights'SkyLite 2.0, but with four support panels over two giving a little more flexibility than the aforementioned when positioning. It can also be laid flat and has little rubber 'pads' to stop it from getting scratched if you do. It is slim and easily fits on a bookcase or bedside table and it also ships with a long power cable (USB-A to DC) to allow repositioning of any kind. The LED shines bright and the colors and lasers are both vivid and can both be dimmed to suit the mood. The 'stars' (laser) and the 'nebula' (LEDs) can be independently controlled. National Geographic Astro Planetarium would make a nice space gift for a budding astronomer. It has great functionality, with a time and date selector and a built-in speaker.★★★★½The Atmosphere is to be used in conjunction with the ' Smart Life' App for full functionality. You do have to create an account and your Wi-Fi needs to be at 2.4GHz frequency (ours wasn't so we had to update this before use). Once set up, you can also link it to your home's smart device, in our case Google Home. Not only can you turn the device on and off, but also change the base color using your voice — nice! Other modifications you can make in the app are the speed of rotation, level of brightness, countdown timer, and scheduled activation. Some galaxy projectors use batteries, while others require a plug. Both versions have their advantages, but it just depends on what you’re looking for or what’s available to you. We obviously recommend avoiding disposable batteries whenever possible. Settings and special features Control is simple, using three buttons — power, rotation and sleep timer — and it is powered by a battery which you can charge with a USB-C cable. You're not tied to a power source like with the Homestar Flux, and you don't have to keep changing the batteries as you do with the National Geographic model—again — another happy medium.
In theory, yes. Most models of star projectors run from mains AC power or DC through a USB port, so they will run as long as they are plugged in. Some models are battery-powered, meaning you run the risk of the battery running out of power overnight. While the terms are often used interchangeably, star projectors can also be used to refer to unrealistic night and ambient or mood-enhancing lights that aren't scientifically accurate. Planetariums on the other hand are strictly realistic and accurate depictions of the night sky, which are sometimes even time and location-sensitive to show you the night sky as it appears at a given time. These projectors should have adjustable features to increase these settings, such as angle rotation, time motion.The only downside with the Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector is that the nebulas and stars aren't scientifically accurate. Still, we enjoyed the experience so much that we didn't feel short-changed. We were especially happy with the option to adjust both the brightness and the projection speed, which makes the device great for setting a calm environment or an energetic party scene. Unlike some other models, we found it to be near silent in its operation, which is great if you're using it to get to sleep or whilst watching a film.
