About this deal

But when one of her beach walks with grandad’s smelly dog Buster leads Tabby to investigate a seemingly abandoned house on the cliff-top, where she sees something quite strange, she begins to wonder whether the story grandad tells her about the ‘House of Clouds’ could possibly be true?

Clouds have been the object of fascination throughout history, their fleeting magnificence and endless variability providing food for thought for scientists and daydreamers alike. You’ll also be privy to a cloud chart that explains how clouds form and gives you a glimpse into forecasting and even photographing clouds. She tells of her struggles to let him do things, to let him go, to plan his funeral, and to watch her baby die.It shows how God used a dying boy from a small town in Minnesota to touch the hearts of millions--including top executives in the entertainment industry, major music artists, news anchors, talk show hosts, actors, priests and pastors, and schoolchildren across the globe. They look up at certain cloud formations in the sky and then use this book as a resource to figure out what kind it is.

Shakespeare borrowed an episode from it for King Lear; Virginia Woolf saw it as “some luminous globe” wherein “all the seeds of English fiction lie latent. This book serves as a cloud spotters guide that lets you know where clouds come from, why they look the way they do, and why they have been so fascinating to artists, poets, and even every child that has been given a crayon and a piece of paper. I love reading children's books, talking to them about books, engaging them in reading for pleasure and recommending books to them. It was simple and very much read like a mother telling a casual story and for that I landed on the three star rating. There’s so much to learn about these shapeshifting things that you might wonder why you’re not already curious about them. Zach's mom's perspective on her son dying is simultaneously heartbreaking and refreshing, since she handled the situation with so much grace. Ultimately, it is nothing less than an attempt at a history of Being, from an unusually brisk, cheerful and pragmatic Heideggerian. With lots of flaps to lift, this delightful book encourages children to explore clouds for themselves, spotting shapes in the sky, looking at the simple science behind them and learning a few cloud myths along the way.

The other thing that this book made me realize is how easy it is to place ordinary people on a pedestal because of tragedy. This is a book about how Zach navigates growing up with cancer from a pre teen to a teenager, how he mourns his own losses of physical movement and accepts his bodies limitations throughout the battle, he learns the joys of true love and how to rely on his faith to see him through the end. Jonas, who would fall in love with Tatiana if she would let him, is a freelance meteorologist, living up among the clouds on the 18th floor of a towerblock. I will definitely cherish the moment that I got to know him through my screen, it's so heartwarming. I will admit that I was not prepared for the faith aspects of this book and I felt like that was unabalanced within the overall book. You learn a couple of different things like how to identify each type of cloud, the different processes at work that produce them, the significance each of these clouds has for the weather, and some of the optical phenomena that are produced by certain types of clouds.
