About this deal

Nils is a trap like combat calligrapher. Buffing others without a form of protection is never a good idea. Instead, invest on pillowfort cards with minimal effort. White has interesting effect but power level wise, it's still poor execution.

Powerful and varied synergies between the cards. A decent number of good tutors. Good mana curve. Has an efficient and consistent way to win on turns 10-12 (level 7) or 7-9 (level 8). Some social rules — like no mass land destruction, no consistent combo wins — still exist. The main Silverquill building is Grandloft Hall, a vast train-station-like space with shafts of light streaking in from the enchanted windowpanes far above. Grandloft is filled with balconies, loges, booths, daises, and other spaces where orators can perform their craft. Inklings flit around the high windowed ceiling, and enchanted spotlights automatically focus on any mage who's using powerful magic. [7] Marcus Terrell Smith (April 30, 2021). Silverquill Statement

If you are on a budget (or if you just want to add more dual lands yet), these lands can offer a similar amount of consistency for a fraction of the cost: targeted removal; Stalking Leonin (kinda), Angel of Serenity, Fracture, Oblation, Utter End, Soul Snare (kinda)

If you are trying to focus on Group Hug and/or Pillowfort, you don’t really need to include any of the cards that have to do with +1/+1 counters. Similarly, Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts, Magister of Worth, Bloodthirsty Blade, and the Vows and Curses can all go. These are cool cards, but they don’t really work very well with Group Hug. 2. +1/+1 Counters (5-8) Graveyard Recursion.Again, very thematic stuff here, but a mixed bag. I think Incarnation Technique is very solid, as is Infernal Offering. Magister of Worth? Not so much. Plus people are completely overlooking the fact that Breena is a ridiculous engine for +1/+1 counters. Assuming each player triggering Breena on their turn in a 4-Player FFA game, that's six +1/+1 counters going on to your creatures each turn cycle, which is absolutely ridiculous. The precon doesn't have a lot of counter support -- only a handful of cards like Fain, the Broker, Felisa, Fang of Silverquill, and Elite Scaleguard -- but even so, giving your creatures an extra combined 6 power and toughness each turn cycle is a ton for a three mana commander! I think Felisa should have benefited from tokens dying as well being a 3mc commander. I could be wrong but I can vouch for her being a choice for Silverquill as she can function in every part of the game unlike Breena. Maybe someone has found a way to make her fringe at least. Bold Plagiarist grows big only but it doesn't feel like it matters compared to mana gorger hydra and Taurean mauler which is more flexible and scarier. I know they're in different colors but it doesn't seem like you want to play this card once you know how others are better inclusion. Will always benefit from being 1 cmc cheaper.

Scholarship Sponsor

Breenais the perfect leader for this Political precon, so we're keeping her in the command zone when we do our upgrades. In short, feel free to include whatever removal spells you would like. This is simply my chance to get on a soap box to advocate for synergy over staples. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. 5 Ways to Upgrade Silverquill Statement

Tempting contract is mediocre card. If no one is interested in getting the extra mana, it's useless. Also, if your opponent wants mana, he or she doesn't mind giving you a treasure token since they will just destroy everyone. So, this card could have been deleted and replaced with SMOTHERING TITHE.Bladegriff Prototype is an interesting card, since each trigger seems beneficial for the table, while overall, the card heavily benefits you. It will often overstay its welcome and cause some damage. Honestly, the only card from the precon that I would recommend keeping for this strategy is Selfless Squire. None of the rest of the cards are necessary to this strategy. 5. Voting (3-6) There's some solid inclusions here, such as Knight of the White Orchid and thematic choices like Victory Chimes. I'm not sold on Tempting Contract like some others are -- it's entirely dependent on your opponents, so I guess hope for bad opponents? However, I don't like the over-reliance on land deficit ramp cards: Knight of the White Orchid, Boreas Charger, Scholarship Sponsor, all these cards can end up doing nothing for you by themselves, but cast one and each subsequent one you cast gets that much worse.

Mark Rosewater (March 29, 2021). " I really enjoyed your list of Witherbloom majors". Blogatog. Tumblr. Soul Shatter , Kaya’s Guile , Heliod’s Intervention , Vanquish the Horde , and Toxic Deluge will give you boatloads of card advantage when they sweep away whatever threats opponents throw at you. Blind Obedience isn’t exactly removal, but it slows down opposing forces and buys time with life gain. Reprint wise, it's just sad. Let me list down cards that I think are useless. Again, I could be wrong but if you want me to explain more on the card I choose here, please ask me in the comment section. Both the reprints and the new cards we’re getting this year seem to be more interesting than what we got in the last few sets of precons. Overall, I think this compensates for the increase in price. Third, I am not considering any budget restrictions when making these recommendations. I only want to brainstorm as many fun ideas as possible. Unfortunately, this means that some of the cards I recommend might be outside of some people’s budget ranges. If they are available, I will also do my best to include budget options for a card or effect.

and Knight of the White Orchid, Boreas Charger, Fain, the Broker (kinda), Scholarship Sponsor, Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Mind Stone, Orzhov Signet, Pendant of Prosperity, Spectral Searchlight, Victory Chimes, Tempting Contract (sometimes), Coveted Jewel card draw; Breena, the Demagogue, Keen Duelist, Secret Rendezvous, Ambition's Cost, Stinging Study, Coveted Jewel Everything except Orzhov Advokist, that is. That one can stay because it adds counters to your creatures. Other than that, you should probably take out Vows and Curses as well for this one. 3. Combat Manipulation (4-7)
