About this deal

Bass is still emphasised, but it’s closer in style to other street headphones, with less of a swamping effect. Mids are slightly recessed, but are much better defined than those of the Motorola Escape Pulse+. There’s some texture and detail here, with none of the boxy or flat sensibility demonstrated by some entry-level wireless headphones. Although Skullcandy doesn’t always make the headlines as much as companies like Beats, it’s always been an easy option for people in search of reasonable audio quality on a budget. Skullcandy has the basics nailed down. Bluetooth stability is very good and at 22 hours battery life is solid. The headphones offer rapid charging, too. Five minutes of charging from flat gets you 90 minutes’ use.

Skullcandy hasn’t just taken the insides of the old Hesh 2 and plugged them into the Hesh 3’s grown-up shell. The sound is significantly different, and offers a huge improvement. The Hesh 3 was tested with my iPhone 7+ via the wireless connection. The Hesh 3 carries a V-shaped sound signature with a slightly more forward midbass, leaning towards treble and technical issues due to its treble performance, which I’ll go into below. A high-explosive squash head ( HESH), in British terminology, or a high-explosive plastic/plasticized ( HEP), in American terminology, [1] is a type of explosive projectile with plastic explosive that conforms to the surface of a target before detonating, which improves the transfer of explosive energy to the target. Squash head projectiles are similar to high-explosive projectiles and are well suited to many of the same targets. However, while HESH projectiles are not armour-piercing, they can defeat armored targets by causing spall, which can injure or kill a vehicle's occupants or detonate some types of ammunition. [2] Design [ edit ] External videosUsers [ edit ] Japanese 105 mm Type B HESH shell for the Royal Ordnance L7 rifled gun in use on the Type 74 tank US Navy technicians building a munitions disposal for HESH (HEP) shells We also found in our testing, however, that the Hesh 3 didn’t always live up to its full battery life. In the box, you’ll get the headphones themselves, along with a microUSB charging cable and an aux cable. We would have liked a carry case or bag of some kind, but alas, one wasn’t included. Fortunately, connected the old-fashioned way, but just switching on your Bluetooth device and finding the headset manually isn’t difficult. Let’s start with the bass which is definitely well-tuned and defined. The headphones seem to have a boosted bass sound that tapers off in the lower sub-bass areas — so while it would have been nice for the bass to extend a little more than it does, the bass that is there is still relatively nicely tuned for those that like a lot of bass.

Over the years, Skullcandy has experimented with everything from in-ear headphones, to true wireless earbuds. The first thing you’ll notice about these over-ear headphones is their design. They’re fairly good looking overall – though not particularly eye-catching. A voice prompt will say “Disconnected”, the headphone will go into pairing mode, and a voice prompt will say “Pairing”. If the headphones do not automatically go into pairing mode, press and hold the center button until voice prompt says “Pairing”. Be sure to charge your headphones on a flat surface to ensure the USB connector on the charging cord is flush and securely inserted into the charging port.

After selecting “Hesh”, accept any “Pair” or “OK” prompts that appear on your screen. When pairing is complete, a voice prompt will say “connected.” I felt Skullcandy could have done a better job with the headband. It could have been longer and more flexible. The current design grips far too tightly and may cause discomfort to the ears, especially during longer listening sessions.
