NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • An insider account of activists, politicians, educators, and everyday citizens working to change minds, bridge divisions, and fight for democracy—from disinformation fighters to a leader of Black Lives Matter to Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cor . Zizek is a pick-me-up for fatigued brains, a true radical and an authentic left-wing conservative who wants to prevent the social disintegration that threatens our civic life. Our personal and political worlds are rife with arguments and disagreements, some of them petty and vitriolic. An exquisite, lovingly crafted meditation on plants, trees, and our place in the natural world, in the tradition of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass and Annie Dillard’s Pilgrim at Tinker Creek . Nothing earth-shattering, a bit unnecessary, but for someone who still hasn't read a lot of foundational psychoanalytic texts, I enjoyed it (though I guess Zizek would say that what I really enjoyed is the fact that I enjoyed it, but I digress).A "file MD5" is a hash that gets computed from the file contents, and is reasonably unique based on that content.

Global cooperation, regulating the consumption of certain things such as oil, coal, beyond market necessities and so on. And if we begin, even a little bit, to recognise that the nuggets of 'enjoyment' we find in excess are as flimsy and futile, might we find a way out? Political and even religious systems are all too often infiltrated by non-believers who see all such systems as gravy trains for their greed and megalomania.

The inability to compromise and understand the opposition is epidemic today, from countries refusing to negotiate, to politicians pandering to their base. I can’t tell whether he is a profound thinker struggling to express his complex ideas, or yet another “public intellectual” more interested in being controversial and cultivating an audience. Engaging with everything from The Joker film to pop songs and Thomas Aquinas to the history of pandemics, Žižek argues that recognising the society of enjoyment we live in for what it is can provide an explanation for the political impasses in which we find ourselves today. Is there any escape from the vicious cycle of surplus enjoyment or are we forever doomed to simply want more? If there are multiple source libraries, know that we pull metadata from top to bottom, so the first one might be sufficient. While I agree with Žižek's key insight here that enjoyment is always excessive, so surplus and enjoyment can be equated in this way, the object of desire itself is fundamentally at a different level as the derivation of enjoyment. That said, always be cautious when downloading files from the internet, especially from sites external to Anna’s Archive. Next, we get a lot of the repetitious parts about Freud and Lacan as well as more recent insights into gender ideology and PC culture.
