THE BINDING ROOM (An Inspector Anjelica Henley Thriller Book #2) by Nadine Matheson is an intense and gritty British police procedural thriller. This is the second instalment in this series and can be read as a thriller standalone, but there are major character relationships that are better understood if you read The Jigsaw Man, Book #1 first. Early concept sketches of Dogma itself and its boss arenas for Home. Edmund McMillen noted that Dogma was intended to be a demonic Isaac initially.

The Binding Room: from the bestselling author of The Jigsaw

With a revolving list of suspects, Henley finds herself in the spotlight with more questions than answers as she attempts to untangle both crimes. But when another body appears, the case takes on a new urgency. Unless she can apprehend the killer, the next victim may just be Henley herself. Henley tries not to let her personal problems affect her job but it’s getting harder and harder to push them aside. I love a good cat and mouse between a detective and a killer, and Nadine Matheson’s thriller fits the bill. The chilling storyline, intense characters, vivid prose, and unflinching crime scenes make Matheson the heir apparent to Mo Hayder and Thomas Harris. Smashing!” - J.T. Ellison, New York Times bestselling authorOne thing that makes her job even harder is that racial tensions are ever present in this particular case and that affects whether or not justice will be served. This racism impacts not only Anjelica, but her partner Ramouter as well. Meanwhile, as if solving both of the crimes in front of her are not enough, there is yet a third murder and they discover that there is a missing baby. Anjelica truly is in a race against time to find this baby alive all while she is trying to discover what was really going on in this pastor’s life and in his church.

This books has a lot of dark and disturbing scenes, and it will not be for everyone. There are some themes that will not be comfortable for a lot of people as well. I don’t want to say too much so as not to spoilt it, but be warned. Nadine Matheson was born and lives in London. She began her working life at the BBC and now practices as a criminal defence lawyer. In 2016, she won the City University Crime Writing Competition and completed the Creative Writing (Crime/Thriller Novels) MA at City University of London with Distinction in 2018.

The Binding Room could be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading The Jigsaw Man first for a better understanding of the impact that case had on Henley and her team and how that experience has bound this group tightly together. I highly recommend this series for fans of dark and gritty police procedurals who like to get to know the characters behind the police badge. I eagerly look forward to the next book in this series. We join DI Anjelica Henley and the team as they are called out when a Pastor is found brutally stabbed to death in his church.

BBC One - The Bidding Room

The Serial Crimes Unit are called in to investigate when a local pastor is found stabbed to death. As DI Henley assesses the crime scene, she discovers a hidden door that conceals a room set up for torture - and bound to the bed in the middle of the room is the body of a man. Firstly I would like to Thank Netgalley and HQ for a copy of this book and to the author Nadine Matheson. With a wit that complements her dark subject matter, Matheson writes superbly . . . A book to make you think, feel - and jump out of your chair' Daily MirrorDit verhaal begint al vrij snel met de moord in de kerk. The Binding Room is another gripping instalment in Nadine Matheson's dark and enthralling series featuring London Serial Crimes Unit D.I. Anjelica Henley.

The Binding Room by Nadine Matheson - Life in a Break Down The Binding Room by Nadine Matheson - Life in a Break Down

The first novel in the Inspector Anjelica Henley series, THE JIGSAW MAN, was a superiour crime thriller and a serial killer novel that would make readers of Thomas Harris shiver. Now, her follow-up entitled THE BINDING ROOM is an even more complex story where two distinct and different themes are running through a murder mystery that turns into a potential serial murder case. The living room is double-sized and extends vertically downwards from the entrances at either side. It contains a large turned-off TV, placed against its northern wall, and a couch further south, as well as a red carpet located between them with a massive picture of a cross with wings. A door in the upper left side leads to another narrow corridor, which Isaac can walk north to reach Mom's room. The Binding Room is part of the Inspector Anjelica Henley series (Book #2). This book can be read as a standalone, however, I would not recommend it. The JigSaw Man laid so much foundation, I promise you, you do not want to miss out on it anyway. The binding room is an intense thriller with a side of police procedural. Typically I avoid police procedurals but recently I have enjoyed them especially if they are well written. A spellbinding game of cat and mouse . . . with chilling echoes of Thomas Harris’s The Silence of the Lambs” - Daily Mail Detective Anjelica Henley confronts a series of ritualistic murders in this heart-pounding thriller about race, power and the corrupt institutions that threaten us
