About this deal

Timelines places the events of Dark Disciple to begin in 20 BBY, thereby claiming Ventress' role in " To Catch a Jedi" and " The Wrong Jedi" occur after the start of the novel. Both of those episodes are dated to 19 BBY. However, Ventress only loses her red lightsabers in those episodes, forcing her to use a yellow lightsaber in the novel. Assuming the 20 BBY placement is a retcon due to the novel’s time gaps, then the placement of the short story “ Kindred Spirits” in 19 BBY would be incorrect, as “Kindred Spirits” takes place shortly before the novel. Either the placement of the novel or the short story is incorrect. Timelines states the novel Thrawn begins in 14 BBY. However, as explained here, the novel must start around 15 BBY. Since 2014, the official Star Wars canon includes all of the movie episodes, The Clone Wars film and the television shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars Resistance, as well as any books, comics, and video games published after April 2014. BBY - Separatists make a couple of attempts on Senator Amidala’s life. Obi-Wan’s investigations into the assassin’s identity lead him to Kamino, where he discovers a fully-fledged Clone Army. Anakin slaughters an entire village of Tusken Raiders (men, women and children) in revenge for the death of his mother. Padme becomes strangely attracted to him.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary states that Poe Dameron joined the Spice Runners of Kijimi sixteen years before the Starkiller Incident, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 34 ABY. Therefore, since the events of Poe Dameron: Free Fall include Dameron joining the Spice Runners, it can be deduced that the events of the novel are set around 18 ABY. The events of Victory's Price begin after the Cerberon system campaign, and the novel also features the Battle of Jakku at the end of its three main sections. Since Star Wars: Timelines dates both of those conflicts to 5 ABY, the main events of Victory's Price must therefore be set in that year. J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduced viewers to a very different galaxy, but Lucasfilm didn't initially have a solid plan for how the galaxy had come to that place. As a result, there are surprisingly few Star Wars novels set after Return of the Jedi. Still, with the sequels wrapped up it is now falling to other mediums to draw the narrative threads together and tie them organically to the rest of the Star Wars story. This section is likely to expand at speed. The Legends of Luke Skywalker by Ken Liu - a collection of in-universe myths and legends discussing Luke Skywalker's post- Return of the Jedi era.

Spanning Multiple Eras

A common thread linking The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett is Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker's former Jedi apprentice – and a key figure in the formation of the Rebel Alliance. She's arguably the most important Star Wars character never to have appeared in one of the Skywalker Saga movies, and her TV show, Ahsoka, sees her reuniting with Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla and other key figures from Rebels. Star Natasha Liu Bordizzo (who plays Sabine) told SFX magazine (via GamesRadar) that " Ahsoka runs along the same timeline as The Mandalorian season 3". Young readers adaptation of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, original trilogy and Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. The Darth Bane Trilogy introduces the legendary Sith Lord as he establishes the infamous Rule of Two. This series of Star Wars books sets the foundations for Palpatine's Empire long before it crushes the Galactic Republic. Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy places the events of "The Escape" 54 years after the formation of the Galactic Empire, which occurred in 19 BBY according to Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, meaning that "The Escape" takes place in 35 ABY. The period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope is a dark one (that includes the movies Solo and Rogue One). A New Dawn is one of the many books that provide an interesting look at what happens in between, including a more nuanced depiction of what the galaxy looked like under the Empire’s rule, and how that affects the average citizen.

Ask any Star Wars fan about which film sits where on the timeline of the galaxy far, far away, and they’re most likely tell you it’s simple – before, five minutes later, ranting and raving with a web of red string and a whiteboard, in the style of the Charlie Day Always Sunny meme. With three film trilogies, two spin-off movies, multiple animated series, several live-action shows, canonical video games, plus an entire era so far only explored in novels and comics, the Star Wars timeline has never been bigger – and it’s always expanding in multiple directions. Han Solo escapes captivity on Corellia, enlists in the Imperial Navy and bags himself a surname. (Solo: A Star Wars Story)a b c "LUCASFILM UNVEILS COMPLETE 'JOURNEY TO STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER' PUBLISHING PROGRAM – EXCLUSIVE". StarWars.com. May 4, 2019 . Retrieved June 1, 2019. Dark Disciple (p. 10: "'For almost three standard years, this war has raged...'" / p. 102: "It had been less than a year since the slaughter, and the wound was still fresh and raw." / p. 297: "It had been a long, excruciating few months.") Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide dates Galen Erso recruitment to Project Celestial Power to 19 years before the the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to 0 BBY, the event must have taken place in 19 BBY.

The first live-action Star Wars TV series to land on Disney Plus, The Mandalorian, is set about five years after Return of the Jedi, in a lawless, post-Empire Outer Rim. Spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett is set immediately after the events of The Mandalorian season 2.According to Vanity Fair, Jude Law-starring coming-of-age story Skeleton Crew will be set in a similar post- Return of the Jedi time period. The Mighty Chewbacca in the Forest of Fear! by Tom Angleberger - a junior novel focusing on one of Chewbacca's adventures. Lucasfilm Publishing initially focused on novels set during the Dark Times of the Empire's reign, with a number of books by James Luceno fleshing things out. A major transmedia initiative accompanied the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, meaning several books are set around that; this seems to have blazed the trail for later approaches. Catalyst, by James Luceno, is included in this section even though it technically begins during the Clone Wars; Queen Padme Amidala leads the liberation of Naboo, where Obi-Wan slices Darth Maul in two – sending him tumbling to his apparent death. Palpatine is elected Chancellor of the Republic, while Anakin starts his Jedi training. Galaxy watches both their careers with great interest. (The Phantom Menace) Din hopes to reunite the creature with the Jedi. He eventually meets Ahsoka Tano, who is on the hunt for General Thrawn. She tells Din to head to Tython and use a special stone to call to any Jedi who may be out there. Ahsoka also reveals the creature's real name: Grogu.A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland - set concurrently with Light of the Jedi, this is the first in a series of books focusing on Jedi Vernestra Rwoh and her Padawan, Imri. We can’t blame you. The timeline of this epic space opera franchise has been notoriously jumpy since its conception in 1977, when the first movie, A New Hope, was released. While it might have been the first installment to hit the big screen, it’s actually the sixth movie chronologically. The first movie chronologically is The Phantom Menace — which was released in 1999. And the last one chronologically is The Rise of Skywalker. Our timeline lets you select different types of media. You can focus on comics and graphic novels if that's your passion. If you only want to see traditional novels, you can make that happen (but, like we often say, don't sleep on the Young Adult titles). Or if like some of us, you approach Star Wars publishing like a glutton at a buffet, you can select everything and see how it all lines up chronologically. You can even see where TV episodes and video games fit in! The painstaking process for researching and writing Star Wars: Timelines has been unlike any other book I’ve written." says Horton. "With so many stories told over the decades and through many mediums, these timelines are an ideal way to illustrate the connected, epic nature of Star Wars storytelling."

BBY - Yoda is born, though nobody ever thought to ask what species he belongs to. (Return of the Jedi) Timelines dates the foundation of the Republic to c. 20,000 BBY. However, The Star Wars Book previously established the Galactic Republic's foundation to 25,000 BBY. [11] It also states that the Republic's formation was prompted due to the dawn of hyperspace travel, despite the fact that hyperspace travel was developed by at least 30,000 BBY. [12] Young readers adaptation of the Star Wars prequel trilogy and original trilogy, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, and Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Builds on the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars; was later partially adapted in The Clone Wars and Tales of the Jedi ABY - Darth Vader recruits Boba Fett to help hunt down the Force-sensitive young pilot who blew up the Death Star. (Darth Vader comic)Timelines dates the Ordu Aspectu's disappearance to 20,000 BBY, except that it is supposed to have used the Great Temple of Yavin 4 which was built around 5000 BBY. The Clone Wars movie and the first six seasons of the TV show of the same name (not to be confused with the Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries, which doesn't have "the" in its title) were released before the New Canon was created, and therefore were officially considered part of the same timeline now called "Legends". However, they contain many contradictions with other Legends materials, and later became a foundation for the New Canon timeline. They're included on both sides of the list above because they provide the context for The Clone Wars tie-in books (marked with a double star [**]), which are officially only part of Legends. However, readers who are only interested in Legends might consider skipping this series, including the movie, the TV show, and the tie-in books. The TV show's seventh season, which was released long after the last Legends material, can safely be considered "New Canon only". Takes place in: 11 BBY, providing an additional look at the events between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. And Thor: Ragnarok / Love and Thunder director (and voice of IG-11 in The Mandalorian) Taika Waititi confirmed in November 2023 that his Star Wars movie is still in the works – and that it's likely to be a departure from other movies in the franchise. “It will be … dramatic pause… a Taika Waititi film,” he told Variety on the red carpet for his latest movie, Next Goal Wins. “It's gonna p**s people off.” Lost Stars by Claudia Gray - starting shortly before the original trilogy, this book focuses on two ordinary characters caught up in the events of the Galactic Civil War. It offers a unique window into the Star Wars story.
