About this deal

To me, this is important because it's a potential safety issue if you ever need to use the radio in an emergency, and an annoyance if you ever want to use the radio around other people who are transmitting on theirs, or anywhere near a radio mast. But since most amateur radio traffic is not mission critical, this is not a deal breaker for many hams.

It does not come with everything setup but can be programmed and accessorized to do just about anything; pair it with a Pi-Star and it will bring you hours of enjoyment on DMR or Analog. Devices designed for DMR communication can work in an analog system - this facilitates the transition from one system to another. The backlight has an ‘always on’ setting that has very little impact on battery drain from my experience. Besides other issues I had with this radio (and even the tune tool will not improve the BER and somebody else is reporting terrible BER with DM1701 hotspot in this forum) I would strongly suggest this new version is just a waste of money. Encryption is something that’s not really relevant for amateur radio, but a few people have asked me about it so I thought I’d include it here anyway. I chose this instead of the higher end Motorolas or Kenwoods because of the fact that these are dual band (UHF/VHF) which I hate about the higher end ones only being one band. If you mess with hams they are liable to try DF and report you or will just blank you if you do get the licence.

The Ailunce HD1 is a decent radio for any amateur radio operator who wants dual band DMR capability in a single handheld. Second-hand Ailunce HD1 10W DMR dual band handheld transceiver, FM Radio The FM radio function allows you to listen to radio entertainment in your spare time.Commercial radios like those made by Motorola and Hytera don't have this feature at all, except in the case of the TYT MD-380 which had unofficial firmware made that does support this. I hope to see in a software update the ability for the scan to be faster as well as promiscuous mode to have the ability to scan with multiple functions at one time to pick up all DMR signals. Multiple reviews of the same product by one person will unfairly bias/skew the product average rating numbers.

This solution enabled a quick expansion of the communication system, remote management, sending SMS messages, GPS position, telemetry and encryption. As such it could be a "Rosetta stone" for C6000 and C7000 differences in code setup if it was possible to decompile the V2 firmware. To build the largest and most complete Amateur Radio community site on the Internet - a "portal" that hams think of as the first place to go for information, to exchange ideas, and be part of what’s happening with ham radio on the Internet.
