About this deal

Glorious hasn’t always been a company that’s known for their stellar QC process so this section might be a bit more important for this mouse than it is for others. Note: I did not get a glossy Model D to test so I cannot give any definite statements on that version, though the only difference between the two coatings is that the glossy mice weigh one gram more and cost 10 dollars more at MSRP. Today, we’re taking a look at their newest release, the Model D Wireless. What’s interesting here is that Glorious has made a number of changes when compared to their latest wireless release, the Model O Wireless. The Model D obviously has a different shape, but we also see the removal of holes in the buttons, for example, and (more interestingly) the inclusion of Glorious’ very own mouse switches. Combine that with a tightened up QC process and a very attractive price when compared to other wireless options on the market and you’ve got what could be one of the best options out there at this point in time. i have a hand size of 19*10 and my current harpoon by corsair feels small and sharp to my hands. i am looking for a fingertip-palm hybrid mouse for playing csgo . will this suit me ? Nice review 🙂 Those of you who are deep into the gaming mouse scene can probably skip this part since you already know how an EC shape performs, but for those who are unaware this is a rather safe shape that should work for the vast majority of grip types (if the mouse suits your hand size) except for maybe fingertip grip.

Glorious Model D USB RGB Optical Gaming Mouse - OcUK

I tested the Model D Wirelessover the course of a few weeks and I’ve also given it the usual ‘stress tests’ and it came out just fine. Contrary to what you could find on some of the brand’s older models, there’s now no flexing or creaking, making for a mouse that feels well built. The mouse is also dead silent when shaking or tapping it. Their promise of tightening their quality control process doesn’t seem to be an empty promise. As far as the battery goes I haven’t noticed any annoyances. The battery life isn’t the most impressive on the market, but if you turn off your RGB lights you should be getting around 70 hours of juice out of the battery. That’s plenty for even the most hardcore gaming marathon, and if you need to top up your battery while you’re gaming you can just use the included flexible cable. It’s completely possible to use the Model D Wirelesswithout ever installing anything, but if you want to use an uncommon DPI or change the RGB you will need Glorious’ Core software. This is a pretty lightweight piece of software, but it’s not the most reliable driver program out there. One day during testing, it asked me to update the program, which I obviously did, and afterwards it asked me again, after which it sort of reinstalled itself and I lost my saved lighting profile on my GMMK Pro keyboard, for example.Obviously we’re talking about the Model D Wirelesshere, so what the software does to my keyboard isn’t exactly relevant, but it is an example of how it needs some work. The Model D Wirelesshas a number of exciting improvements over Glorious’ earlier mice, but I think the improvement that most fans are looking forward to the most can be found in the QC department. The mouse itself feels really solid, with no creaking or flexing anywhere, and even though the buttons aren’t exactly flawless their flaws certainly aren’t enough to annoy me in everyday usage. Of course I can only judge this one copy, but from what I can tell this is one solid mouse. The Glorious Model D Wirelessis, on its own, perhaps not a very groundbreaking release in today’s market. We have lightweight wireless mice, and we have a lot of lightweight ergonomic mice. What’s important here is the price, however. The Model D Wirelesscomes in at a much friendlier price point than similar mice from (well-known) competitors, giving it a leg up over those competitors.

Model D Minus: Small Ergonomic Gaming Mouse - Glorious Gaming Model D Minus: Small Ergonomic Gaming Mouse - Glorious Gaming

The Model D is based on one of the most famous mouse shapes of all time: the EC. As such, this mouse probably won’t bring many surprises for people who are familiar with the mouse market. It’s a very naturally flowing ergonomic design with no sudden indentations or curves so if you’re looking for a medium-large ergonomic mouse with a central hump this might be it for you. Glorious is a peripherals company that has had a meteoric rise over the past couple of years. Their first couple of releases were received in a rather ‘cold’ manner but when they announced the Model Omouse they almost immediately gathered an enormous following in the enthusiast scene. Despite some hiccups here and there (that’s really something that’s almost inevitable when you produce peripherals) they have now firmly solidified themselves as a company that produces high tier peripherals, complete with the latest innovations and trends. As I said earlier on the Model D also comes with two additional mouse feet that fit in between the existing feet on either end of the mouse, creating a larger ‘skate surface’. I applied these extra feet on one of my review copies and left it off on another and I think I prefer the mouse with those extra feet on though the difference is honestly pretty marginal and it might even be the placebo effect talking. It’s important to note that the additional skates are of the same high quality as the ones that are already on there, so you don’t have to worry about them being some kind of afterthought if you decide to try them out, though I would’ve honestly preferred to see a bunch of replacement main feet instead of what we got now. Glorious Model D Review – Conclusion What’s also included are two additional larger feet that allow you to customize the glide area of the mouse. These do not drastically change the overall speed or smoothness of the glide but if you prefer larger skates over smaller ones (like I do) then they’re a handy addition to have. As I said in my intro the Model D comes in a bigger box due to the fact that they’ve now allocated extra space for the cable so that there are no more issues with kinked cables out of the box. There’s no smoothing, acceleration, or any of that nonsense to worry about so you can rest assured that every single move that you make gets transferred to the screen with perfect precision. Glorious is a pretty new company all things considered but they are definitely showing that they know how to handle things.

Glorious PC Gaming Race Model D Gaming-Maus - Black, glossy

The Model D (which is the second mouse to come out in Glorious’ O.D.I.N. line of mice) has an ergonomic shape, and boy is it a good one. It flows extremely naturally and there are no odd curves or ‘you mustput your fingers here’ kind of grooves, leading to a shape that can be a comfortable fit for pretty much all grip types out there. This type of shell design remains one of my favorites so I absolutely love holding the D. As mentioned earlier it is a copy of the Zowie EC, so if you’re unsure about this kind of shape you can always go out and find one of those to see how it suits you. When Glorious dropped their first ever gaming mousein the middle of last year it received a lot of praise, and rightfully so. The Model O shot up to be one of the most popular mice in enthusiast circles thanks to the lightweight design, fantastic cable and feet and flawless sensor, along with the fact that it’s rather easy to get a hold of (something that can be an issue with other smaller manufacturers) but it did suffer from some minor issues here and there. That’s nice of them to include, but I do wish they’d gone all the way and threw in some replacement feet as well while they were at it. It’s always handy to have some spare parts around. Shape, Coating, and Mouse Feet As with many mice, there’s a touch of post travel, but this is something that happens with a lot of mice and it’s well within acceptable tolerances.

Completing the Glorious Model D Wireless Gaming Mouse is its iconic honeycomb design. Not just stylish, this framework keeps your hand fresh, improves grip, and allows the RGB lighting to vividly shine through. The bezel is manufactured from highly durable materials, enhancing the overall longevity of this gaming mouse.

Glorious Model D- Review: The Hole-y Grail of Lightweight Mice Glorious Model D- Review: The Hole-y Grail of Lightweight Mice

I wouldn’t say that lightweight is better per se. CS:GO professionals, for example, aren’t using lightweight mice en masse at all (only 3% are using a mouse that weighs less than 70 grams) so there’s definitely some personal preference involved. One of the first things you notice on the Model D Wirelessis the fact that there are no more holes in the mouse buttons. Most companies seem to be moving away from the cheese grater designs these days (or at least reducing the amount of holes in the shell) and it seems like Glorious is following suit on this front. I can’t say that I have any strong opinions on the subject, though. I don’t mind holes in a mouse and I also don’t mind the feeling of my fingers resting on said holes, but I do know that a lot of people in the community don’t really appreciate feeling them underneath their fingers so on the whole this is probably a welcome change.

Both side buttons actuate with a tactile feeling and there’s almost none of that typical ‘side button mushiness’ present. There is a bit of a pivoting issue: the center part of the side button has virtually no post travel whereas the further out from the center you push, the more post travel becomes apparent. The buttons never travel inside the shell though (unless you apply a whole lot of force and you press them at their very edge) and even then the travel stays limited so as far as I’m concerned these side buttons are perfectly up to par. Something that I immediately noticed when I first received this mouse is that Glorious have definitely been listening to their customers. This is evident when you open up the box: gone is the smaller box where they crammed the cable underneath the mouse at an odd angle (something that led to cable malfunctions for some people, though I didn’t have that issue on my copies) and in comes a larger box that has way more room for the cable. The S is a completely different shape so it’s kind of difficult to really compare the two, but the Model D is quite a bit bigger than the S1 and also longer and higher than the DeathAdder so if that was too large I don’t think this would be the one for you. Glorious did release a smaller version of their first mouse (the Model O- is the smaller version of the Model O) though so it’s not unlikely that they’ll do the same with the Model D. Perhaps it could be a good idea to wait for that one, though there’s obviously no telling what happens with planned releases and what not with the current COVID crisis.
